    House bill would hike mandated insurance minimum substantially


    Legislation that would up the federally required insurance minimum for motor carriers nearly six-fold—from the current $750,000 to $4,442,000— is wending its way through Congress. Yet motor-carrier interests are not entirely aligned against the measure. Nicknamed the “Safe Haul Act,” the bill would also tie future insurance minimum requirements to the cost of medical care inflation. Introduced in the House by Rep.     Now if this passes we won't have to worry about elogs or new regs, retirement on the way.

    I'd just inform him the state would need to up car insurance the same amount. I mean let's face it they don't have enough insurance either.

    I work for a small company and my boss just raised his to 4 million to get work from a certain oil & gas company and he told me it wasn't cheap...

    It's not cheap at all. I carry 5 million liability and 1 million cargo on 15 trucks it's a significant amount of money for the premium. Downright staggering actually.
