With PAM you are not guaranteed to be home on your hometime date. In fact once my GF was with me for 2 weeks (I had already been out a week before I picked her up). After being 5 days overdue for hometime I had to call the fleet manager and let him know if he did not get us home asap the truck would be going to the hospital because my gf ran out of her meds (diabetic, blood pressure, etc.) 20 mins after the phone call I had a load that delivered an hour from home. When they tell you there are no loads available to get you home chances are it's BS. They want you out there as long as possible and they will lie to you to do it. Near the end of my time I was out 4-5 weeks at a time.

1st. As a former instructor at C-1, All they will do is teach you what you need to know to pass the state cdl test, this will done in a fast pase. Usually within 3 week's. 2nd. I drove for P.A.M. back in 2005-2010 they are not the worse are the best. You will be out 2-4weeks at a time. Stick with them for the one year get a little experience keep your nose clean then you can move over to an better company.

I am a product of c-1 as well but I paid my own way so no advice on PAM. Like others have said, they teach you how to pass the test and that's it. It is decent training but not in depth. It will get you a job, always remember that experience is the best teacher.
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
Getting the license is only your 1st step, 2nd step is getting some time in somewhere. I think PAM falls in the middle of best and worse companies that hire newbies. Once you get approx. a year in, you can go to some real decent companies.
There is better compaines that hire newbies, but only sometimes and harder to get on with.
Average newbie quits trucking within first 2 months but that's only because of the life style not the job.airforcetoo and Skydivedavec Thank this.
