Long Distance Tow from Roanoke, VA to Atlanta, GA?

    Century with a 12.7 Detroit...Lost her this evening. We got well over a million out of her. Threw a rod out the side of the block. Thank goodness driver is ok. Truck was towed to shop in Roanoke that I know nothing about. I need to get it home to Atlanta so that my mechanic can start on the replacement. The trailer can stay out for a while. I have never towed over a distance like this before. Anybody know of a good long distance towing operation for just the tractor?

    Instead of towing, would it be cheaper just to get it loaded on a flatbed/lowboy and brought to you?

    You can be sure you are going to pay storage if you yank the truck from its present location- so sooner is better than later. May need tow truck to load on an RGN. Get a mega carrier to truck it for you- I hear they work for .99/mile LOL
    A million miles is good but a rod out the side is, well, not so good. Just more expensive. I hope its back on the road earning money very soon.

    Where is Martin? leftlanetruckin? he runs a rgn Rig, I hope he is back out of the shop, Look him up on here he may be able to send you in the right direction or chinatown on here seems to be very knowledgeable about a bunch of stuff!

    It might be. Just not many contacts there. I found a decent price from a reputable company out of GA. 1700...I think it's fair based on having to go up and come back and they have a good reputation.

    Exactly. I mean it is what it is. I have had Detroits that lasted way longer than this one. Let's just get her back on the road and recover from the loss. The bearing broke loose and I wonder if the bull gear might have broken loose first and dumped a gear in the hole...It's hard to tell but I should get my eyes on her soon enough. I should have replaced the bull gear at 800...I knew better.
