Sorry but a 13 speed is a 13 forward and a reverse, Right below the reverse gear is the 1st forward gear, Then the standard h pattern, making 5 forward gears in the low range, In high range you can split each 4 gears, making it 8, 8 + 5 = 13

Yeppers, and there is even the secret gears you're not supposed to use adding two more.
-
I know them, but didn't want to get to confusing, Now they are going to ask where they are, But I'm not telling
-
And to further this, if the OP ever gets into an 18 speed, It is the same as a 13, but you can split the low side as well as the high side, 5 gears split on the low side making it 10, 4 gears split on the high side making it 8, 10+8=18, If you can drive a 9 speed, you should have no problem getting use to a 13 or a 18 pretty quickly, Only thing, the split does work on the reverse gear on a 18 speed, but don't use it to split to the high side, not good for tranny, only use low side reverse
-
I'm jealous too... 13 spd is the sweetest truck tranny. Great for control in mountains.

Crzyjarmans.....I stand corrected. you're correct. I guess since no one really uses 1st (compound low) I didn't actually count that gear. I'll add, I never used that gear. And yeah, there's 2 secret gears. I seem to remember just 1.

drive it as a nine speed, unless your pulling a lot of weight. its not as hard as your thinking it is, you will be alright.
-
Use the splinter on heavy loads when trying to get to top speed.
On the way down, I often drop 1.5 gears at a time.
It is pointless to drop a half gear if you know you will drop more gears right away.ewill71 Thanks this. -
Actually you right on the one hidden gear, the 18 speed has 2 hidden gears
-
When you run 3.36 and 24.5 you use it more than you want to, or at least I do. The secret gear can be split, which makes two, correct?
