My partner is off for an injury she got on the truck.
She was MY driver, and not company.
We have left company we were with.
How long does she have before companies will look at her time off truck in a negative manner and not wish to let me hire her back ???
How long off truck is "too long" ?????

It probaly wont matter. They will lprobaly just require her to be able to pass the physical or have a doctors clearence from the injury.

It could matter with a new company.
I let my CDL go for many, many years. Got it back to move some heavy equipment around. Did some bus and straight truck work with the 'B' then upgraded to the 'A' with a quickie brushup at Vincennes University here in Indiana. It still took some months to find an LTL that would pick me up.
They went out of business and I stayed out over a year and lucked into a contractor to USPS @ $23.67/hr. Did that for 10 months until layoff (ever shrinking USPS). THEN I took 1-1/2 yr off, including tooting around country with 3 dogs talking to trucking companies, yada, yada. When I FINALLY wanted to go back to work, the only thing on my 3 years was the USPS and I had been off longer than I showed as driving. Oops!!
The list of companies that would take me suddenly shrank precipitously. I went with Gordon for 5 months. When I got tired of Gordon's peewee (short) loads and pay, I took a 2 month vacation and went right back to work... well, part-time. : 0) Keeps my CDL warm and pays really well.
It could easily matter if she's off over 2 months. -
I hope it won't matter.
She's not my wife, just my best friend.
We each have homes and "loves".
I've been driving trucks since 1981, and since 1984 OTR.
I never knew the joy and companionship that could come from a really good co-driver/partner.
It's a different world when you have someone else to share it.
I'm not sure I wanna keep on driving alone. -
If your MVRs are reasonably good you'll find something without a doubt.

Paschall Truck Lines is pretty good about situations like yours.
If you're an 0/0 talk to someone at Farm2Fleet & check their website. -
I'm going Schnieder.
already done deal.
She will be off til doctors/work.comp say she can return.
Health most important, and it's ME she will work for anyways.
I hope they don't take long to fix her. I need my "brains" with me. LOLVictor_V Thanks this. -
Usually when it is an injury type thing as long asshe is recieveing treatment it is understandable the only thing is when she goes to restart for another company if she is out over 1 year they may require her to have a refresher course aprox 1 week where they evaluate her skills with a trainer

To me it doesn't sound like she will have much trouble getting back after just a few months
