Do you find yourself making wide turns in your 4 wheeler?

damnest thing. i never had any problem making the transition when id come home for my home time.. and now that im home for awhile job searching i still dont have any problems. on 1 small occasion i took a turn wider then i needed to but that was it. occasionaly id go for a clutch that wasnt there.

the hardest thing for me was when i had a rental car to get my second rig in texas... and the other rental when i ... changed jobs ... and im driving home on several occasions i almost went thru the ipass/prepass lane forgetting i dont have the transponder thingy.

theres this one local company im interested in working for. hauling steel on flatbed. i wonder how many times im going to try to shut the doors on the trailer before i remember.... there arent any.

 

It has been a while since I left room for my trailer while driving the pick up, almost every time I go home, unless I am thinking about it, I try to pull the air brakes every time I stop and feel like I am forgetting to do something when I get out of the pick up. I also try to wind the window up but the switch isn't where my hand thinks it is! Usually lasts the first day then I'm ok. Need to come home more often, that's what that craziness is about.

I make wide turns on my bicycle, too.

My wife has a good laugh when I reach over and try to set the parking brake in our dodge pickup.......

 

The last company I drove for had mostly 53' dry vans with roll-up doors and a few reefers with swing-outs. Seemed like every time I pulled a reefer, I'd put it in the dock and forget to open the doors first. I'd go inside and the guy on the loading dock would be shaking his head...

So out I'd go... pull it back out, open the doors and back in again.

Conversely, the roll-up doors got me one time at Morton Salt in Detroit. I was used to backing in first, then going inside to roll up the door. Not here--the automatic dock plate came up and smashed right through the door. Oops!

Y'all ain't gonna believe this, but...............................

I haven't owned or really ridden a bicycle since I was in junior high school (grades 7th,8th & 9th here in SoCal). Let's just say that was a loooong time ago and leave it at that.

Recently, I purchased a really nice used bike with 21 speeds. Well, not really "speeds" -- just different gear ratios. I live in a hilly area, so the lower gear ratios are a must. I figured with the price of gas hovering around $3.25 to $3.50 a gallon, I'd save money if I rode a bicycle for those short jaunts that are hard on an engine anyway. And for health reasons. What I didn't figure was how much I'd enjoy pedaling along at a slower pace, smelling the flowers. It's a blast! Now I look for, and find, excuses to take a ride -- just for the heck of it.
Imagine that.

Imagine this,..................... not only do I find myself making wide turns while riding my bike, but I've found another habit has carried over from driving motorized vehicles.
Being safety minded, whenever I first hop on my bicycle, the first thing I do is start reaching for a seat belt.

When I do that it causes me to chuckle,....... as I try to insert an ignition key I've dug out of my pocket somewhere in a dashboard that doesn't exist.

I guess when they say, old habits are hard to break, it's twue two.

If I ride my bike a lot and develop new habits as a result, folks are gonna wonder what the heck I'm doing when I attempt to chain-lock my Big truck to a pole to prevent theft. Also, I worry what'll happen if I forget what I'm driving and try to jump a curb.
Or attempt to make a right turn from the bicycle lane. SOMEbody --- QUICK!
Hit me in the head with a hammer to jog my memory.

 

The one I find myself guilty of is the weigh station. I was taking my mother to the nursing home to see grandma (96 years old, oh my) and slowed down for the weigh station without thinking checking to see if it was open or closed. lol Another one I have caught myself doing is looking at lot size for parking trucks. lol
