As a driver and a broker I have a few things to add.

    1. The crummy driver, no not all and not a lot but a few, that lies and tells you he's there and empty when he's still 100 miles away.
    2. The drivers that refuse to send in the BOL or other paperwork so the broker can get paid and pay the driver?
3.The trucking companies that call the customer you have been working with for several years and tries to take them from you?
    4. The crooked brokers that tell you they are a driver, take your load and try to re-broker it.
    5. The broke driver that calls you with an attitude and calls your employees liars and thieves.

I could go on and on....but I will say this.....if you think brokers are all thieves and liars DON'T USE THEM. STOP CALLING. GO GET YOUR OWN CUSTOMERS AND DO THE BILLING AND MONEY CHASING. TELL YOUR CUSTOMER YOU WON'T DO ANYTHING THEY NEED DONE AND YOU ONLY WANT TO DO THINGS JUST FOR YOURSELF. CALL AQND MAKE YOUR OWN APPOINTMENTS AND BEG YOUR CUSTOMER TO UNLOAD YOU WHEN YOU SHOW UP LATE......and all the other things we do all day every day.

AND 50%?????? You must be on crack. You put several thousand dollars and your personal credit on the line so you can pay early and buy a $75K bond.

And lastly.....if you call my son, one of my brokers, and give him attitude....I can promise you that you WILL get it back. He will hand up on you and answer the next call...because the phone is ringing off the hook.

And yes I drive and yes I use other brokers all the time. I've been in business for 30 years and it's not because I screw people and treat them like crap.

Guys. We all need each other. The problem starts when we fall apart. We should be working together to make the customer pay more. There are always faults from each side.
But brokers and shipper/receivers should not forget about the lifestyle of truck drivers. They don't see their families for days/weeks/months. They cannot let themselves any luxuries that we have every day. And most of the time they end up divorcing or being cheated. Or the worse- stay single for a life.
I know that is what they choose. But who wants to live a life like that?
I mean they do %90 of the job. They deserve respect, truth about appointments and the money they earned.
Any OTR truck driver will agree with me that it is super stressful job. They have to be alert every second.
And brokers as well as dispatchers sleep at home every night. So, just don't say anything disrespectful about drivers since they are our everyday heroes.

21 is the minimum age when you can get CDL. Am I right? :biggrin_25518:

Actually, you're not right. You can get a CDL at 18, but are limited to intrastate driving.

Than why my instructor at CDL School told me that I have to be 21 yo to be a local driver. And 23 for interstate. Or does it change in different states?

I was just kidding. DTP is a huge bullet point for a lot of carriers i speak with.

Side Note: What do you think is a good % for a quick pay (48 hours). Or what is a reasonable time to wait (before you get anxious)?
