The Magnum brand is out of business, you'd be lucky to find a Raptor or S-3 still in the box.
I'd suggest close eye on Ebay, and be willing to settle with any S-9 you find... the 80's and up get harder to find the larger they get. -
Where did you hear or see this????
Last I read, they only discontinued the S line of the Magnum radios like the S45HP. Thankfully I was lucky enough to find one.
The S-9 175 looks like a nice rig.....wished it had the scan option/presets like the S45 does. But at least it looks like it has an actual freq counter, and not just a freq. display. Dunno if I'd pay the almost $500 a few places are charging for them though. -
I found it on a CB magazine review. But, I did find one and I can order it almost anytime I wish.

I was told this by a few CB shops dealing with RF Limited (parent co. of Magnum). One shop who seemed to know, said 'Mr. Magnum' pulled the plug when he started loosing money. Investors insisted he add Nitro knobs, and more pwr. <--makes sense since last models were labeld NX, or 80, 175, 350+ watts. Those same investors now make the Stryker brand using much of the same original Magnum design.
You were lucky to grab one, JMO one of best brand ever made in 10'M. Unfortunately I never got to play with either the Delta or Omegaforce units. I was able to find a new 257 on ebay giving credibility to claim only affecting S models??? RFLimited. com still maintains their site, but offers no products. -
As I understand the bigger power 175, 350, etc were hit and miss. The 175 I had worked like a champ and sounded great, when it wasn't needing new finals. It was VERY sensitive to higher swr( anything above 1.5 ) and beating around in the truck, any small spike and it would screw it up. Had a hard time keeping it cool. Ran a Galaxy 98vhp and Ranger 63ffc4 with the same set up and didn't have the problems. I wouldn't shy away from another one, as it was a great sounding and looking radio.
Just my experience with the one I had. -
Still in business and here is the link.
