Knocked out 694 miles today about 50 miles west of Houston. This load was suppose to deliver tomorrow night but I got delayed waiting 9 hrs on produce on California. So I won't be there till Tuesday. They said they might swap two days ago but never said anything. Which makes me happy cause I'll have 3k miles on Monday. I've ran 10659 miles in 22 days doo I'm not complaining. Safe travels

What a cluster*! I checked in an hour early at the shipper expecting a drop and hook and was told that it would be a live load. Ah well, you can't win 'em all. I'll just be stuck with another non-aerodynamic trailer. They phone me 90 minutes AFTER my appointment (nope, no detention pay here) with a door assignment. A full HOUR AND TEN MINUTES LATER the yard dog pulled the trailer that was blocking my door, and I deftly avoided being hit by the many CRE and Stevens trainees who were seemingly intent on impressing their trainers with precision 5-pullup backs or pulling away from docks after hooking without doing a tug test (at least he caught the trailer with his tires. . .) and bumped my 2 o'clock dock at 4:45.
At 8:15 I picked up my paperwork. From the time that I got here to the time I left I could have almost completed a shift at another full-time job! The load was 36,500 lbs or so, but the weight on the drives looked suspiciously low so I headed back to Colton to hit the CAT Scale. 1,700 lbs OVER on the tandems, of course. These "loading technicians" have me at under 29,000 on the drives and 35,660 on the tandems. A quick call to JCT and it's back for a rework.
If anything it's an even bigger cluster* tonight! I get assigned to door 30 for my rework, and, of course, another truck is backing into 30 when I get there. I blind-side back into door 31 to get out of the way and then I go inside to see if that door's ok or if they want me to try a no-light-blind-side-90-degree-midnight-alley-back-next-to-a-fire-hydrant-between-the-dumpsters-with-a-half-twist into some other portal to hell.
I get scolded by some kid, (who's probably younger than my underwear) for backing into door 31, and after I suggested another hole that I would like to fit this load into, I was sent to the back lot and door 49. Here I sit some 11 hours after arriving.
That, gentle reader, is why length of haul is so important; especially in the reefer business. If I had to put up with this crap all of the time I would be long gone. When you average two trips per week for your 3,000 miles, these occasional messes don't bother you so much. We'll see tomorrow what the appointment time is in Ochelata and whether I can make it or not. I'm hoping for a quick swap to put this load far behind me!Warrior's Lance, TrukTuff, Jarhed1964 and 2 others Thank this. -
Wouldn't detention start at the time you checked in? Not the time you bumped a dock? Also can you ask for detention for the rework time? Not sure if it would work for you, but we always wrote the time of arrival and departure when we signed for the paperwork... It didn't always work for us either

But I do get a salary plus percentage, so on those short-run, long-wait days (like the one I'm on as I write this on my iPad, trying unsuccessfully to overpower Apple's autocorrect), I rest easier knowing my pay won't go below some number.
And I bought a Love's tanker model for my grandson and an old-fashioned Raggedy Anne doll for my granddaughter while sitting at this Love's in Demotte, Indiana. The Challenger Thanks this. -
