Running with JCT

Knocked out 694 miles today about 50 miles west of Houston. This load was suppose to deliver tomorrow night but I got delayed waiting 9 hrs on produce on California. So I won't be there till Tuesday. They said they might swap two days ago but never said anything. Which makes me happy cause I'll have 3k miles on Monday. I've ran 10659 miles in 22 days doo I'm not complaining. Safe travels

Wouldn't detention start at the time you checked in? Not the time you bumped a dock? Also can you ask for detention for the rework time? Not sure if it would work for you, but we always wrote the time of arrival and departure when we signed for the paperwork... It didn't always work for us either

 

Yeah, I could have gone home, but I had already stopped by the house on my way to Fontana and done what I needed to there. So I was just sitting and watching football, while getting caught up on paperwork and stuff. Now, I got a preplan last night for a load delivering in Riverside (I know it's on't a total of about 50 paid miles, but I was told I'll be getting an extra $75 for doing them this favor), and when I'm empty I'll be getting a load out of Colton going to Grandview, WA. (Walmart here I come). So all in all, it's going to work out fine...additional miles to an already good week.

 

Ahhh...sounds like you're picking up at WCC in Colton (by the description of the docks, loading sense, etc.) Good thing we don't have to load there every day. I think I'll be heading there later today myself though, after I am empty here at Walmart - Hunter Park in Riverside. Good luck brother.

 

JCT will pay detention time as long as they can bill it to the shipper or consignee. The last time I picked up at WCC in Colton I dealt with similar issues. I ended up wasting over 24 hours and 100 miles (I had the load reworked 3 times, which meant 6 extra trips to the cat scale which was 17 miles away). I ended up talking to the planner when I got to the terminal (I was headed there anyway) and he compensated me for my time and mileage to the tune of $242.00. I was satisfied with that. It never hurts to speak up...the worst they can tell you is no.

 

As a regional driver, I put up with all of that (drivers practicing poorly, blocked doors, wrong doors, taking up two spots at über-small, crowded truck stops, and such) and all for 250-400 mile legs.

But I do get a salary plus percentage, so on those short-run, long-wait days (like the one I'm on as I write this on my iPad, trying unsuccessfully to overpower Apple's autocorrect), I rest easier knowing my pay won't go below some number.

And I bought a Love's tanker model for my grandson and an old-fashioned Raggedy Anne doll for my granddaughter while sitting at this Love's in Demotte, Indiana.

 

Oh. I forgot to add the gate guard putting me in door 720, all the way around the biggest DC I've ever seen, me setting the tandems all the way back, opening the doors, and backing in. Then the yard dog drives up and says the guard read the wrong info on the computer and please move to Door 20. Near the front of the facility. In plain view of the guard station. Grrrrr.....

yeah, garbage happens.
