I have a paccar engine set at 485 and have had no problems in 185,000 mi only problem was a glitch in the ecm at first but was a quick fix. Engine doing well it gets run hard all the time 75 to 85 mph spends hrs at a time at 1600 to 1700 rpm. No oil consumption at all between changes 30,000 mi oil changes because of the hard usage

about all that I can tell you is that they seam to be the shop about every 5 to 10 k miles. I know 2 people that have them and in less that 50,000 miles they both have had more shop time than they did on there old trucks w/ close to a million miles on them. good mpg. pull ok. are co. trucks seam to be in the the shop a lot also. most of the time its small items but it still takes time and lost money.

So it is not the engine, it's electronic bs. That is easy to fix, just block and bypass everything.
Mine Volvo 2008 got EGR reprogrammed and DPF taken out completely.
    +85 HP + 1.2MPG

No check engines, no regens, no problem for 55K so far.

Was thinking they were the same in terms of the SCR/emission controls?

Is anyone running the new 500 hp 1850 lbs model ? We have a few company trucks running the 455 1750 ? ( I think ) and the big complaint is that they are way under powered for pulling trains. The foot is always on the floor and the mileage reflects that.. very poor

SCR tech is licensed to all the other engine manufacturers from cummins. their control systems are all identical with the actual parts that do the work modified and reworked to work with other trucks.
