ATS owner Op flat/step

Hi all, Im doing some rsearch on my next move. ATS is on my list for flat/step. I would like to hear from current O/O about avg pay and freight availability. I hear that going up into Canada pays well is this true. Ive looked at Mercer and Jones, ATzs is the last one on my list. The recruiter said 2.08 per loaded mile is avg and 1.81 is overall miles avg. I hope to hear from you guys about your experience, thanks.

 

I do have my own. I wont run mileage on fb or step, I want percentage. I talked to one l/p guy who said he brought home 2300-2700 per week. He had a new pete so I dont see how thats possible. But then again I guess ats has an interest I. Keeping them moving. To my understanding (recruiter) dispatch offers 3-5 loads to you at a time. How do you deal with that? Just decline and sit? What is a realistic money expectation? I am a hard runner and I do catch on quick to how things are done. I realize its the recruiters job to fill you full of sunshine, thats why I post here and ask questions.

 

I agree, stay out of dead areas. I learned that the hardway when I bought my first truck. Im not out to impress anyone, im out to make money I dont want a big load on unless theres dollars behind it. What is a resonable expectation for revenue?

Well this so far is shaping up to have been one of the poorer choices I have made. They claim O/O will avg 2.08 per mile both loaded and empty. I've yet to see 2.00 per mile. My avg so far is $1.54 per mile and that is pathetic. I was lied to by the recruiter (shocker), I was just dumb enough to fall for it. So thats on me. There is an escrow they do not tell you about that is $75.00 a week indefinitely. It never stops and you have no choice. The inspection process is overly anal because they own the dealership where its done, so while no d.o.t items were found they found little nit pick items to try an charge me for, which I just fixed myself. I got told to keep my mouth shut while I was explaining how the lease deal works to a driver. They were filling him full of sunshine, and I spoke to him and broke it down giving him the true pros and cons. Fact is they own numerous businesses, leade purchase is where they make a ton of revenue. They own the dealership, the leasing company. So they have two streams of revenue before you even turn the key. I'm giving them 90 days to see how it pans out, but Im not optimistic. I own my own, I dont do l/p. They do priority for l/p, though they wont admit it.

 

Well I left. I just couldnt make money with all of the waiting an cheap rates. I stayed in the good midwest to south lanes. A lot of north east loads that look good on paper, but after tolls and a terrible rate to get out its not worth it. L/p there isnt l/p. Your first year is a lease. You make no progress in ownership. They do give priority to lease guys cause they want the weekley payment. But they count on you guys taking cheap loads too meet your weekley payments. ATS is a revolving door. I went back to my old company FCC. They are good ppl and the money is reliable and steady. Its not high rates. 1.49with fuel, but they pays tolls an fuel tax. With good fuel dscounts and insurance added in Its 1.70 per mile. They have l/p after 6 mo as company driver. Guys here bring home 1400-1500 a week. Im good here, im not leaving.
