From 1979 to May first 2013 I have held a CDL. Now for the first time in my life, I will downgrade to a class C license for a wet reckless. What goes around comes around. I have lost count of the drivers I have turned in over the years for driving poorly due to what appeared to be alcohol related. Now it is my turn, point 1.1 and $2000 plus dollars, and a three month DUI program on top of a one year suspension of my CDL. I will get my CDL back, but the community and industry that I love, has been let down by one of its members. ME ! So an Apology from me to all of you in the trucking and transportation industry. for putting myself and others at risk, and the lack of responsibility that a CDL holder should have shown. Once again, I Give My Apologies.
Sincerely The![]()

Didn't you just get back on the road within the past year?

I never heard of wet reckless till now.Thousands of truckers feel your pain.Thats like a double whammy.Driving drunk and 15 over the posted speed limit or how much over considers it reckless?Thats a shame but I do thank that officer for stopping you before it could have been a lot worse.Even though you'll get your cdl back in a yr,plan on not driving a semi for a few yrs after that.
FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this. -
Don't be so hard on yourself....atleast you realize what you did wrong...which puts you waaaaay ahead of most people. Good Luck to you and keep your chin up....It could be ALOT worse!
The important thing is....whether you learned something from your mistakes and when and if you ever get the opportunity to drive a truck again, you realize you are gonna have to be on your p's and q's....
I busted MANY drunk drivers when I was LEO....never arrested a on duty truckdriver for drinking though...thank goodness.
DWI,DUI was a "hot button" for me...I lost a good friend my senior year of high school because he was coming home from his afterschool job and got hit head-on by a drunk driver....fourth offense...Last edited: Oct 9, 2013

Agreed, you made a mistake, you except responsibility and move on, You maybe able to get you CDL back in a year, but most companies will want around 5 year with no DUI/DWI, Hope all works out for you

1.1 alcohol level? I hope you never drive again. Whether you apologize or not, you shouldn't have gotten behind the wheel of 80,000 pounds after drinking anything. (even if it was a personal vehicle, its never safe) At 52 years old your not come stupid kid that doesn't know any better or doesn't have common seance. You put lives at risk when you drove that truck and no load is worth lives. (if it was a car, getting home isn't worth lives) I mean just a speeding ticket I could understand. We all make mistakes, but drinking and driving is not a mistake. There is no, opps i didn't realize how fast i was going. You knew before you stepped in that car or truck the last time you drank and you made a decision to drive anyway. Your lucky you didn't kill anyone. You weren't only to drunk to drive, but you were legally intoxicated. Your behavior is unacceptable by anyone, truck driver or not. Drink all you want, BUT DONT DRIVE after. In my opinion you should have lost your C for a year as well.

Drunk driving should be enough Whammy that the speeding doesn't matter. He doesn't deserve the right to ever drive a semi againVegasfanNJ, TwinStickPeterbilt, pattyj and 1 other person Thank this.

I didn't see where he said he was driving a Semi?Voyager1968 and FEELTHEWHEEL Thank this. -
Well at least you are alive to apologize, now forgive yourself and move on
blairandgretchen, RayT70, FEELTHEWHEEL and 2 others Thank this. -
im gonna go waaaay out on a limb here and say I believe the "1.1" was a typo that should read ".11". mostly because a 1.1 level would be quite a bit over fatal.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_alcohol_content I know, Wikipedia....but its one of many on this and the chart is right near the top
FEELTHEWHEEL, flightwatch and blairandgretchen Thank this.
