    Yep, you guys were right.

"May drive only if 8 hours or less have passed since end of driver’s last off-duty or sleeper-berth period of at least 30 minutes. [49 CFR 397.5 mandatory "in attendance" time for hazardous materials may be included in break if no other duties performed] "

You can take the 1/2 hour break after working 15 minutes if you want to. But then you would only be able to work another 8 hours and you'd have to take another one. The key is you must take one within 8 hours of switching from off duty to on duty.

Did I say you must take one ? silly I, you must LOG one, big difference.

OR.... you can drive a little slower, say 63mph and never have to stop. If the speed for that state is say 70mph, you can log it at 67mph, drive 63mph and just pick a town to show your 30min break. At the end of the day, your time all equals out ;)

What i usually do tho is show a break while I'm getting loaded. Say it takes a shipper 1 hour to load me, i will log 1/2hr loading and 1/2 hr off duty as a break :D
