Oh absolutely! Its just that waiting for the tow to come makes me tired. On my thirty minute break now and in another truck. Hopefully no more problems.
Walmart here I come!

Yeah, waiting sucks. Wish they paid ADP for breakdown. My Monday was Thursday, but turned out to be a true 'Monday'. I was 8 miles from where I was going to stop for the night, with 56 minutes left on my 14...BOOM! My first Walmart blowout, luckily a trailer tire, and needless to say I went over my hours a little. Ended up with a 16.5 hour day, and that's AFTER my 4.5 hour drive to get to work. But like you said Matt,oh well. Bad days happen, it's part of the industry no matter what company you drive or work for. I DO wish they'd abolish this stupid 30 min rest break!
drozzer69 and Boy Howdey Thank this. -
I guess I have been lucky so far, as I have not had any equipment failures yet. I have had things go wrong, or be wrong with the truck or trailer, but have always been able to get them to a shop. The worst being when the APU died in a truck, while I was in CA, so I had to get a motel room.
With my X company, I always used to diagnose my truck while on the road, and try to fix it, or fix it enough to limp it back to the company. In my 7 years there, my truck was never towed, and it had well over 1 million miles on it when I left. Of course, that is the mechanic in me.
I must say, I really like how fast and easily I can get something fixed here. The guys get right on it, and you are on your way ASAP. With my X company, they would always fix what needed fixing, but they didn't have enough mechanics............ so you often got stuck in some not so desirable truck for a week or two.
Truck rodeo starts on the 8th for us. I am thinking I will participate. They are using the Pete's though, and they don't maneuver as well, so we will see how it goes. It should be fun.
Later guys............... off to Mira Loma I go !!!Boy Howdey and Buzzard2157 Thank this. -
Sitting in Sanger at the moment waiting for a load. Believe me if I could have gotten that truck to the yard I would have. I think an injector went bad and ecu problems have plagued that truck. My x company did take care of my truck when it needed service. But the new shop manager was terrible just before I left.

Oh I know. Sometimes you can't limp them in. I have just been lucky in how and where my failures have happened. I always thought I was doing my boss a favor by not incurring huge towing bills. Of course, it was never appreciated or even noticed. Of course, my truck was a 2004, so it had no emissions controls and was not completely computerized. So, I could limp it in with a bad injector or 2, and it wouldn't completely shut down................. it would just run terribly. That truck also went through a couple of wiring harness's. I got to where I recognized the problem and was able to creatively manipulate the plug ins, so it would stay running. It was a common problem with those engines.
It is the same with me with tires. In the last 8 years I think I have only had 2 tire failures that I wasn't at a yard to get fixed.
These newer engines aren't nearly as "in the field" user friendly. I would never think of doing some of the things I did with my old truck, in these newer ones. Plus, the computers wouldn't let me, due to the emissions controls.
Watch, now that I have said that, I have jinxed myself. LOL -
Hope not! At this point I am glad tomorrow is my Friday. Next week will be better.
I agree as far as getting the older trucks back and saving the company money. At this point your more likely to do more harm than good. Better now to call up and say "it died and won't start. Come fix it/tow it to where you need!"Buzzard2157 Thanks this. -
Anyone know anything about Brooksville? I applied and did the phone interview and passed that.

Congrats on passing your phone interview! Don't know anything about Brooksville. Good luck on the rest of the interview process!
Forgot to mention that on Tuesday morning (my Friday), I delivered a load to Project CURE! They told me there that Wal~mart is the largest contributor to help deliver these loads of used hospital equipment and new supplies to Project cure! After the week I had last week, ending it with doing this really made me feel good about working for this company!Boy Howdey and Jrdude5 Thank this. -
Thanks Drozzer69, they said next I'll go in and meet the manager and take the road test, do you know what else I'll have to do?
Buzzard2157 Thanks this. -
thats the problem , all the good things walmart does is hardly never mentioned...... they do so much that goes unnoticed.Extreme4x4 Thanks this.
