Between Vegas and Phoenix, there are more carriers with terminals in Phoenix because the entire state of NV has raised issue of OTR drivers going broke after spending too much down time at the casinos. I know for fact that Phoenix has more manufacturers and distribution warehouses than Vegas, which means more loads to get dispatched out of Phoenix area, versus dead heading from Vegas to pickup a load at another city. The warehouses in Vegas area are mostly inbound freight to resupply the city of Vegas, which relies on tourist who come to gamble or watch the shows. There's hardly any outbound load from Vegas. There's plenty of inbound load though, but when you deliver and empty at Vegas, you're more than likely dead heading from there to pickup your next load. In contrast, when you empty at Phoenix and take time off, you're likely to pickup your load locally when you come back from home time.

I think it is phenomenal that "passingtrucker" would take this much time to help others; of course, it's always good to verify information, but the helpful info appears to be reasonably stated and intelligent.
Thanks to Mr./Ms. Passingtrucker.charlie's angel Thanks this. -
so... um... what size are the mattresses in the truck, generally speaking... I am a man who enjoys a nice sheet for my bed, and have google searched and have been unable to find an answer... are these just twin size mattresses or is it a custom size?
-
A standard twin sheet will fit most. I have only driven the ProStar, and it is a standard twin mattress.

Hi just wanted to comment on #22, Type 1 diabetics are dependent on insulin but that will not stop you from driving. Canadian drivers with Type 1 can only drive in Canada, they cannot drive in the US. not even with a waiver and they must have their diabetes under full control, with a doctor who can provide proof that it is. Not clear on US legislation for type 1 driver's but I do believe it's similar to Canadian's but US type 1 driver's can't drive in Canada either!
Technology for insulin dependent diabetics and advancement with insulin has made it much easier to control diabetes and that is the key. -
Some live stock yards might let you park on their lots . I used one in Ohio for $30 a month it had lighting and enough movement to provide some security.

Your last paragraph asked for recommended additions. I have traveled extensively as an IT person, and managed the cell phone account for national mechanical contractor. You might want to warn the 20 something's to turn data / service roaming OFF when they are near Canada or Mexico. Other wise they may get a cell bill from H!!!. Oh as a newbie , thanks for the other info. Well I guess really warn everyone, but most people over 30 have learned the hard way about cell roaming fee's.

^ True spent one night/day in Canada and bill was tripled from AT&T.
