Never a victim. You just see it from a different point of view which is why its not personal. Your opinion does count if your useing facts based on your direct experience. I have not said one thing that was not the truth and most everything is easy to back up just in this forum.

I know you made a step up when you came to Walmart,I actually gave you some help like I have alot of others but you wont remember. For me Walmart at least for the first year was a 20k+ step back. Your honeymoon may never end for that reason and thats great for you.

As far as the other buffon, just because he has his 20 and 2 does not make him elite and you know thats a fact. There are a ton of 20/2 drivers that would never make it past the interview. Why would you encourage him,he doesnt have any first hand knowledge of the fleet.

Extreme nobody meets his elite status and Walmarts been going downhill since his employment because they'll never be another. 20 minutes ago I got the call to come in and meet management and do my road test, I guess 1 step closer to no longer just being a face! lol

I can't believe you would agree with bashing Swift.
But bashing JB is quite understandable. I hated working for JB.
And no need to get defensive. JB has a bad reputation.
Walmart is great from what I hear. I will continue to shop there to support their fine drivers.
Walmart has a great reputation, exactly the opposite of JB.
I am glad JB banged his head and died. I only regret it didn't happen sooner. But I sure miss Sam Walton. He was a fine man. Not at all like that evil JB Hunt.

Actually after thinking about it I have to correct myself and set the record straight. I was informed of the upcoming change in recruitment policy six months before I left the private fleet. I discussed the issue with our safety guy and a few other well connected drivers and from that point my opinion has been the same. So much for picking on the recruits that have come in during the new softer more recruit friendly process and being pissed off at Walmart. I have known about and voiced opposition to this change of policy since Dec of 2011. Everything has fallen into place and the mission to bring on drivers that can and will put in more years is under way.

I applied 10 years to a D.C that was hiring and was called in for an interview that I turned down, I was 30 and a lot less qualified then I am now so I'm not sure what's different. And I'm curious what's your concern about a policy to bring in guys that can put in longer service?

Not worth you time or is it just to hard to offer up a good arguement. Here are the facts.

The process has without a doubt been changed in order to make it easier to recruit from that pool of drivers with 3+ years of experience that will stay around for more than a few years. Before this change 15-25 years experience was more the norm and alot of drivers were done with the private fleet after a few years. Of course alot of drivers filled in the middle but alot of them are now ready to hang it up and the company is in scramble mode. True or False?

In the past Walmarts excellent reputation and word of mouth always attracted more than enough very well qualified drivers to meet the private fleets needs. Granted there has been alot of growth and attrition lately but there was a huge growth spurt when the company was building super centers on every corner. During that huge period of growth hiring was done under the old guidelines and standards, there were no radio ads and you really had to bust your butt and jump thru the hoops to prove you really wanted this job. True or False?

So for guys that are thinking about leaving really good jobs to become one of the new best of the best you have to ask yourself some hard questions. Forget the money because its good, forget the schedule because its good and forget the constant butt kissing you receive because its good. Heres my core point,a job that once might take a guy years of jumping thru hoops to get is now being offered up to anyone that can meet the minimum requirements. If anyone can have it,is it really elite?

Seems crystal clear to me unless Im missing something, anyone care to break my arguement.

Because with the numbers they are needing to hire they are not going to be able to maintain that elite status which is what attracts alot of very well qualified drivers. Drivers like us are not out there on the market at least not in the numbers they need to make the longer years of service work. There are tons of two million milers but not alot with the stellar safety records we have. It just basic numbers,in the future they are going to need to draw more and more from that less desireable pool of candidates that they would have never pulled from in the past.

You have that highly desireable staus already so whats the attraction to Walmart? For me it was being one of the chosen few,the schedule and then the money. The benefits are weak and playing gang bang the tractor can last for years. I know one extra board driver at Apple that still may have 2-3 tractors a week, after eight years. He wont go on a 6/3 or any other program so hes stuck until someone retires or dies above him.

hell ill give it a try lol. I haven't heard of anyone on this thread or the other threads that have received an interview or have been hired on with less than at least a million miles or at least 10 years experience. just my observations. seems that I may be one of the least qualified on this thread with 17 years and 1.5 million. im personal grateful for the changes in the hiring process. since I would now only have to travel to the dc once instead of twice since its a 1000 miles from my home. but from the people I have talked to that have had the new interview sounds like its still very tough to get past. not to mention their pre trip and driving test. hell id just be happy to get the job. I think they will always be a top tier company even if they have to loosen their belt a bit to get qualified drivers. ya know at some point with the driver shortages their are out there every company will have to loosen them up to get decent drivers. that's just the way it out there not as many 20 year 2million milers as there once was
