PAM Transport and Driver Solutions only care about money

PAM stressed to me i was responsible for the truck and my actions while behind the wheel and if i did not feel i was properly trained i would've let them know i felt that way if you had asked for more training and they wouldn't then i could understand where you are coming from but like the one guy before me has mentioned you should hold only yourself responsible i hape you did find a company that work with you but if you don't speak up noone will know your problems

 

I'll tell you this, it is up to "YOU" to figure out if you got what it takes to make the commitment to one yr. of indentured servitude at PAM. PAM is a vehicle, and introduction to the world of Trucking...they are not the best, but by far not the worst way to get into this industry; to cut your teeth so to speak. Avg. about $375-$500 a week for first yr. get over it, or get on down the road to something else....it is not easy either...especially psychologically! Hurry up and wait will shortly become your new mantra! If you approach what they offer with a hungry mind and fortitude; get that yr. outta the way and move on to someone else...you are golden in the industry after 1 yr. PAM does not want you to stay, but they will not fire you either!
Good luck, I did it, and now making $1200 a week! But its on you for 95% of anything that happens to the truck! Pay attention , don't let yourself get lulled into thinking you got it down anytime during that first yr. That is when a curveball cometh, and somtimes they are deadly curveballs. keep your breaks dry in the rain, and watch you following distance...complacency will creep in, but when you notice it, double your efforts to pay attention...I'm an old carpenter, and it was well understood, that you only lose fingers on the tablesaw when you quit respecting it! Respect that truck and trailer the same way, because there is a lot more to lose than just some fingers!

I have had a few jobs like that. It sucks man.

My main question is per week what did you clear after taxes
My wife and I am in a really rough spot and even tho I have heard a lot
Of horrible stuff on here about PAM I dont have to many options and
I am just trying to figure out if its worth it money wise per week
After taxes???

Any insit into the company and how realistic the pay is would be
Greatly appreciated

thank you for your 2 cents im broke lol all i hear is a crybaby brat that wants to point his finger at someone other than his self even though you may have had a bad trainer is it his fault that you put yourself at risk that my friend is yours all of what you said could have been prevented with common sense it baffles me on how you ripped off a trailer door did the truck not have mirrors and why in the world would you make a u turn wow some companys would fire you just for that come on be real a first day driver would know better

 

My view is that yes, trucking companies often do not train as well as they should based upon what I have researched. I am not a truck driver yet. However, I have to ask the OP why he did not take action himself and report the unsafe practices, and get a new trainer? No way am I going to risk my life like that. It does not seem to me like the OP could not have gathered strong evidence to present to the company. To make matters worse, he himself made mistakes that resulted in completely preventable accidents. I have to ask why the trailer doors were still left open before pulling out? If they were not able to be closed beforehand, why did you not GOAL before pulling out if it was tight? How does one take out a fuel pump without failing to look into your mirrors, and why put yourself in that position in the first place? Common sense would dictate in these matters. And he does not understand why he was fired? I would lay about 80 percent of the blame on the OP.

 

Totally agree rick. ftdlaw, you clearly don't pay attention to what you are doing and want to blame poor training for your failings. Writing a letter to the White House!! OMFG that is HILARIOUS! I'm not usually one to rag on folks but you are begging to be ripped on with this stuff. Go back to burger flipping.

 

I won't in any way ever say PAM doesn't have problems and most especially in the competence and quality levels of their trainers.. ahem... "mentors" but I'm sorry, man, this is 100% you lookibg for someone to blame for your own failings. Own up. Your trainer wasn't behind the wheel when you had those incidents and if you elected to upgrade knowing full well you needed further time with a better mentor that's all on you. It was repeated to you multiple times in orientation to report it if your trainer was engaging in unsafe practices and if you felt you needed more time or someone else.

I bet a majority of drivers who drove for PAM don't check in here anymore. Where's Chip been lately?

BTW, did you go to Melton yet?
