Ok cool thanks. I do not need it ASAP, but I will be getting one soon. To answer the question above. The details on the motor are it's an 85 3406b motor. 400 block non air to air motor. Crank is stock same as cam. Injectors are standard pattern. Basically motor is near stock. After cooler pistons linears and head are 3 yrs old. But all OEM replacements from cat. All parts changed are new not reman. Only work that I have done performance wise is the fuel pump. Pyro gauge and boost gauges are active. I know once you chance turbo and pump, pyro gauge monitoring is a must. I do not pull heavy. But I do run mountain areas. Average pulls range from 15 mins up to 40 min pulls. I currently run a BW turbo. But it is a older model I guess b/c when I look up the number it is discontinued. I had a guy telling me he has a big boss stage one turbo. I looked them up. It seems like a lot of advertising hype. Is this true or is the turbo really worth the $2600 that they are asking? SmokinCat's name comes up in the threads that I have read. If you have any other input to add now that you have some info on my power plant. By all means put it up or Pm me. I can give you more info if needed.

The stage 1 as it's called can be built for a lot less than $2600, it's a good turbo. That's what is on my 7FB. One thing to check is if you have the crossover pipe with the big turbo side inlet, it should measure around 4.25", mine originally did not have this pipe and I had to buy it, it's around $300 but it's the only way to make the more modern turbos work.

If you give me a couple days I can get that part number for the tube, or I think I have a turbo in mind that may work just as well, let me know which route you are interested in going.

I'm pretty sure that my inlet pipe is not large enough. I'm not opposed to going that route if you think it's worth it. The guy that has the stage 1 turbo seems to like it. Is that the only mod I would have to make for the stage one to fit up? I have stock exhaust manifold. When I put the turbo I have now on, it was about 10 yrs ago and it literally mounted up in 3 hrs in my driveway. I don't mind changing the inlet pipe if everything else mounts up the same. When I replaced the aftercooler I just went with the OEM replacement. That's the 4.25" pipe your referring to yeah? Flanged on aftercooler side runs across top of motor into the compressor side of turbo. If so mine def is not 4.25".

Or do you just mean the inlet pipe off the air cleaners?

The pipe that runs across the top, I don't think there will be anything that you will have to change except the pipe.

SmokinCat I run the truck everyday. I'm looking for reliability, I mean boost and hp is important. But the truck runs everyday. I will look into ordering the pipe as well as the turbo. If you feel there's a different way to go I'm all ears. What type of boost will the stage one put out? I'm currently around 30 psi on a hard pull. Prob a little less.

I guess my next question is a matter of opinion. Where to buy the pipe and turbo? For a decent price. If you need to PM me that answer I understand. Thank you for your help and opinion.

I've had the 199119 on my truck for many years and its been a great turbo. But I would go with a smaller exhaust housing than the 1.72 it has on it. It can be a little laggy unless you are pushing a lot of fuel and since I've lost power I didn't realize just how laggy it really is.

yes my 198123 takes a patient right foot to get it wound up without overfueling it (AFRC is removed) but wouldn't I lose power on a long pull with smaller turbine housing and get higher exhaust temps?

My pyro climbs too easy as it is now. Especially in hot summer days.

I'd love to get something that spools up quicker. I think I'd get better mpg but I don't want to lose that climbing power where I just drop it in direct and jump in the left lane up the hills.

I was thinking next one I get I'll try Tony's 199119 with the smaller hsg.
