Who's "he"? As in, who are you referring to?
-
glad someone else knows this, some of these guys got x-chain on the brain.
-
True, now that I can see the actual 45° angle (roughly) on the securement. (viewing on better/larger screen). It does serve the same purpose and agreed, shorter is better.
Originally, it appeared as only straight longitudinal (forward/rearward) securement.
Note: By X-chain, I was referring to the X-directional hold only, not necessarily a full "across the trailer" cross chain. The direction of tie-downs is what's important.
My comment above clarifies my viewpoint.
As for the Op saying the weight of the 10 yr old Deere 160 is 12k less than Deere's 2013 model, I have yet to have seen any 160 with that drastic a weight loss between the years.
In fact, I've never seen one under 34-35k, and that's going back over 10 years.Last edited: Oct 13, 2013

In all the load was secured properly, the weight was legal on drives, spread, and gross. If you would like I can send you a spreadsheet of weights of equipment that I've hauled with weight, widths, and heights if you would like. Just pm me. And these are actual weights not Deere specs or ritchiespecs.

Would this be the same one you pulled? http://www.ritchiespecs.com/specifi...r&make=John+Deere&model=160C+LC&modelid=92333

Close. No hydro. blade on front of unit as well as no hydro thumb. It was a jd160lc not a jd160clc. According to the cat scale in wildwood it was right around 70k gross. And never had a prob at all getting through scales. Everyone can hate on the weight if they want it was a fully legal load.

All BS'ing aside - that's a pretty cool set-up. I don't think I've ever saw an excavator on anything other than a lowbed!

No, i was just asking a question since it looked similar in pictures...
BTW im sure most people would haul that if the pay was good, that is all that matters at the end of the day -
Does look similar just not the same as what was hauled. That was the problem I ran into when I was sent to get it. I couldn't spec it because the 160clc would only pull up on the web to get a weight. I've noticed this problem with DEERE tractors as well. A different transmission can be 800 to a 1000 lbs difference in big tractors.
