    I believe it was of the gross, but the talk did not get too far...and it's been a while so I can't be sure. But 6% of linehaul would be a bit more comparable to the 3 - 4% you mentioned.

    3-4% is on linehaul. 6% of gross would be way too much.

    Smart shippers hell even the dumb ones will never ship a load without insurance coverage.So that puts you back in to the broker game.You have to have insurance when you are booking loads or trucks and if you don't have it you are out.

    sounds like brokering to me. Just a round about way of doing it.

    Who said anything about not having insurance?? Pay a pretty penny every month for that, unless there is something other than liability and cargo I'm not aware of (though a couple brokers now also require general liability as well, I have found).
