Basically he's filing for your authority for $125... Those "includes" aren't really "included", because that's all the paperwork required for your fmcsa filing that costs $300...

It doesn't appear to be a bad deal. Make sure the BOC-3 is a one time fee and not an annual fee - that could get you if it's "in the fine print". The BOC-3 I signed up for was $35 fee and that w as it, and it is good every year. I have seem some that charge annually! At the same time if you are headed out on your own make sure someone is good at paperwork b/c you are about to see enough of it to choke a horse.

File it yourself in 30 min and just pay the $300 fee direct. If you're a member of OOIDA they will file the BOC-3 on request, as part of your member benefits.

We Did our own. It's not that hard and they come inspect everything before you get your authority and they do not fine you if something is wrong, just tell you what and how to fix it.

I agree, I was hesitant to do it myself but it wasn't bad at all.
Passin' thru - What does the inspection process look like? I have my usdot, mc # and txdot numbers (inactive until I purchase insurance) and haven't had an inspection. I've heard that they can do one within 18 months. Do they wait until the authorities are active and then send someone out?

I used GLauthority. pretty much the same bs as ooida. tell them you are going to use progressive ins for a $100 discount.
Using a larger company was worth the peace of mind to me. If you trust those guys for $425 then id say go for it. it would take you a decent amount of time to file yourself, so is your time worth $125 or is it worth paying them to do it right the 1st time?
