Outta the 3 I'd go for Tyson
Identical to Conway pay with faster trucks & you'll have better ideas on "what where and when's next"
Schneider pay is too low for no touch dry vans.
But if you want to go home every now and then that's your choice.
Tyson, Schneider, or Conway Truckload?

Tell us that after a few months of produce loads with 10 to 20 pickups without Extra pay and a boat load of wasted unpaid hours @ the docks.
Tell us that after you spend 8-10 hours waiting for your truck to get unloaded and tell us that when you are sitting @ food warehouses on a Friday morning & end up getting unloaded by 1600 where you will be left @ your final destination for the weekend with no truck stops around let alone wasted time until Monday morning.
Tell us that when you have had deductions out of your pay check for damaged Freight or short or missing items and you have to spend hours solving problems that are not yours.
Tell us that when you get to your final drop but you can't unload because they R Not ready for you or your appointment not until Blah Blah Blah or find out that you need an appointment number to Go a long with your appointment but no one told you a bout that.
Tell us that when all the lumper fees end up on your W-2 income tax form because they gave you a Com Check to pay for the lumper

At Tyson you will be doing alot of waiting for them to pluck them chickens!!
-
Tyson has the miles and gets us home often too. Pay is good n benefits too
-
That sounds good, I'm reconsidering flatbed as an option if heavy haul doesn't work out. Which of these companies do you think would be better so far as freight, hometime, benefits, and equipment; TMC, Melton, or Boyd Brothers?
-
Actually as a Tyson driver you don't do much waiting. If your at a plant a lot of times your getting your break in and then your gone. I was averaging over 3200 miles (your milage may vary) as a otr driver for them and had a couple of weeks with 4000... Tyson is good about using whatever time you have available. I moved to a shuttle job with them about 2 years ago. I've got no complaints for the entire time I've been here.

Do flatbed, tarping is easy, flatbedders just complain about it to make themselves look tough. Swift pays $30 to tarp its the easiest $30 I've ever made. Look at Maverick they are better than the companies you listed.

Yep, just remember...
You have to tarp/untarp in all weather, rain-snow-high winds-100°+ days-etc... Not to mention more drivers get hurt playing with chains, straps, and climbing on loads than ever get injured with a no touch reefer load...
Tyson, unlike any of the others mentioned here, makes its own loads. Its very rare your pulling anything from an outside company. Your either pulling Tyson product or product going to a Tyson plant to be used in making product... -
Schneider - tanker division. Gives you 6 preferred days off. Once you get tanker experience...you can find local tanker work that pays well and gets you home every night.
inbdusfor20yrs Thanks this.
