It is a felony in some states, check local laws.
jbrewer87 Thanks this. -
There goes the neighborhood.
First. It has to be okay with your company
Second. It has to be okay with the states you travel in.
That being said you CAN carry a firearm in a truck given it's alright with the company and the states you travel in. You can carry a concealed firearm in a truck given you have the proper permit and it is not against a state law that you travel in.
I don't see a problem carrying a baton. Keep in mind you have to explain why its in there when the state boy asks though I don't see a baton as a weapon though and I know a couple drivers that carry a baseball bat. Me personally I prefer a .357 but to each their own. Yes I have a permit...and no I have not had a problem in Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, or south Dakota carrying.crb Thanks this. -
Thanks maybe I am better off just bringing the old Louisville Slugger

Or a tire thumper. Watch mace/pepper spray laws too.

Tire thumper is probably his best option. Mace and pepper spray are NOT a wise idea, neither is bear spray. Out in the open they are fine if you're doing your PTI or walking to and from your truck. In the truck or bunk they are useless as you will disable yourself and the assailant. You're better off with your fists only. Many don't think about that and in a panic situation the first thing you'd reach for is the mace/pepper spray/bear spray. And then you're ######. Hints why I carry what I carry. If somebody jumps on the truck while I'm sitting in the seat I have a tire thumprr that will land over their head. If somebody attacks me in the bunk they're not going to walk away from it crawl maybe but they're going to be in a lot of pain and looking for a hospitol. And outside they'll need a body bag. That is also why I stay in my 5 state area. I know I can carry in those states. My permit is not good in SC, TX, DC, or CA...might be OR as well not sure I'd have to check.
OP keep in mind when you carry any personal defense item it raised eye brows, and you are responsible for knowing the laws. Its a responsibility and yes a LEO will give you havoc over it. I've been questioned a few times both in my truck and my personal vehicle. As soon as the licence comes out and they see the CCW they immediately ask where the firearm IS. When asked about weapons be honest. And upfront. They tend to get a little pissy when you forget you have a .357 in the glovebox...even if it isn't loaded at that perticular time. He really would've blown a gasket if he found the loaded, unregistered .44 that was tucked under the passenger seat

Perfectly legal if you are in a marching band.

That's a simple fix all he's got to do is get a cheap drum

I can see how that would go state boy looks in...what's the drum and baton for?
Well officer that's what I use to keep the other drivers entertained at the truck stop on resets.
Oh no harm no fowl you're free to go

why not apply for a Florida permit. I hear the Florida one is accepted in all states that allow cc permit except one but not sure the one. And you dont need to live in florida to get it.379exhd Thanks this.

Carrying a expandable baton in the truck is a good question since I usually have a 2oz can of mace in my reach at all times and have been searched at multiple army bases and border check points. I can't imagine an expandable baton being a problem as long as you do not misuse it. So just use common sense.
