That is why LTL is the place to be (with the right company). Other than my 30 minute lunch, there is nothing I do that I don't get paid for. Driving. dropping, hooking, fueling, waiting, working on the dock, everything is paid.
every company

your only screwed if you think your being screwed if you like your job and paycheck
who is anyone else to say your wrong -
agreed, I get White dog's point, but that an opinion, I'm not back on the road just yet, flying out on the 19 to start orientation on the 21, I drove for this company before, The company isn't the highest paying company, but treated with respect, and like a adult human, not just a truck#, I made about $800. on average, and that's ok with me, how I'm treated goes a long way, I also like the fact that if there is a issue with the truck, they take care of it the right way the first time, no band-aids, no long waits for repair approvals, I have been to truck stops where a drivers has on his 6th hour waiting for a approval for a tire replacement, This was at the TA on I40 Sayer,OK if memory serves the trucking company was USA, both cant swear to it, I have never had this kind of experience with Western Dist.

Huh?!?
Ummm....just because you are happy with your check, doesn't mean you aren't doing work for free. And just because you don't mind doing work for free doesn't mean you are not being screwed.
I'm guessing if your company started paying you for all that free work, you wouldn't tell them you've been over paid. You would gladly accept the pay YOU EARNED, and you would be even happier. Don't be ridiculous!
I ran LTL before....and I was apparently with the wrong company. I got paid by the 1/10th. of each minute for everything I did clock in to clock out...and the benefits were unbeatable.
But I ran city, bumped a minimum of 30 docks a day with a minimum of 7 trailers, with a spring ride truck, pulling 1990's trailers; and I was at the chiropractor 6 times in 9 months for my $15.45 an hour. Not worth it to me. Low man on the totem pole, in a Union shop....so I had no other options (i.e.-bid on out of town route or line-haul) so I split.
Opinion? Or fact? -
This part of the Forum should be title How I screwed up my Job.
I do not care what others say now after reading 90% of the complaints most would not been as bad if they had changed their attitude or work harder to make it. Yes there are companies that are questionable but most of the companies that people complain about would not still be in operation if they were true. -
I have no doubt there are some decent truck jobs out there in the industry but LTL is the biggest " F the driver " system in the industry.
LTL is the bottom of the ladder in my case.
2 - 3 day waits on a 1000-1600 mile runs, then another 1 or 2 days making the local drops on the delivery end.
Then starting the cycle over again.
Do the math
Less than $500 a week bring home on average (I'm hearing $450 from some of my contacts) and that's with NO deductions such as medical insurance, etc)
What LTL Co do you drive for ? -
You asked Elendil this??? Well, since he has a BIG picture of a Fed-Ex day cab pulling Fed-Ex doubles in every post.....I'm gonna guess UPS?

No photos appear on my end....but thanks
-
Well I guess since you don't walk in my shoes and I don't walk in yours we shall disagree. I knew what they paid for when I signed up, if I don't like that I could have chose another route. They pay what they said when they said. How is that screwing me? I am happy with the job and the people around me.

...and as stated earlier, how many employees screw their employers? From a 50 minute lunch, to selling diesel fuel out of their tanks, to who knows what else?
I'm betting there are as many lousy employees, as there are employers.
