Well myself and a girl I went to school with here In michigan start next Monday. I'm pretty excited to start a new career. But I have a few questions. What can I expect for otr training ? And I think I read on here that they have automatic trucks is this true ?

Do you have a passport? If not, perhaps you may want to apply for one to be able to get into Canada and out of Canada back into the United States.

I believe that JBS Carriers is now starting to haul freight into and out of Canada. I don't believe that you need a hazmat license, however, it would not hurt to get one if you don't already have one.

    Good luck to you!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

When i worked for JBS there wasn't any automatic trucks. you will get used to a 10 speed truck anyways. automatic trucks are not that great anyways the company i work for now has one and its a POS they jerk when backing up. Get ready for a lifestyle change when you begin your new career as a OTR trucker.
listen to your trainer and treat him with respect and even if he is a prick just bite your tounge and remember your only with him for about six weeks. then your on your own. Good luck! in my opinon JBS is the best starter company at least when i started i felt like i made the choice.

Only the new '14 KW T680's due to begin arriving in November are automatics. It'll be a while until the entire fleet is automatics, if ever. For the foreseeable future all trainer's trucks are to be manual trans anyway. Better to have an employee trained on a manual in case one has to be assigned to a manual truck later.

Good luck in your new job and watch out for the Canadian coups- they expect different things out of your logs.
