It was full throttle and it boged down at the same time the suspension is getting smashed down. It doesn't make much noise either, just a rustling noise. Only reason I had it matted was because I was afraid of the bales rolling onto the cab when I came out the other side. I was expecting to see bales scattered all over the road but all it did was slide my straps off and shave a foot off the top of 2 bales. There is hay scattered under that bridge year round from other trucks which makes me feel better lol.LoneCowboy and RedForeman Thank this.

Ok. if there was hay laying around the bridge allready, why did you even try and go through. You could see other trks. hit. You think you might want to stop and re measure?? Just my thoughts..
Sleepy68 Thanks this. -
Noooo, why? Nothing bad happens when you hit a bridge, right?Sleepy68 Thanks this.

Right, no damage no body gets hurt and the bridge will be ok, because it's made of good materials.. HaHa

The Big BAd Wolf huffed and puffed and blew down the straw house, but I don't think he'll have much luck with concrete and steel
-
Do you realize that all of that steel on that bridge isn't for looks but really does something? So when you hit that bridge even with bales of hay, you could bend that support that you hit and just weaken that bridge enough to fail next time a truck goes over it. The answer is you don't hit anything with your load. It's not a ha,ha or opps .. If your states highway people saw you hit that bridge.. Even with bales of hay, you would be pulled over. Also that is hit and run, because you didn't stop, and could be a felony if you damaged anything on that bridge. So next time you think well there's other hay on the ground I can also.. Say hello to big bubba.. Your new room mate.

When I had my bridge hit, they brought in the state bridge guys that night.
They measured the bridge beams with small levels and then were checking every beam I hit. Plus they were going to bring in an xray camera the next morning.
There was minor damage. Not enough to close the bridge thank goodness.
There was a bridge hit several years back at the Ab/Sk border. When he hit the whole bridge came down.. -
So, were you over 13'6" to begin with?
-
a lot of people think.. Ohhh it just bent that overhead angle iron. But they don't think this. If it wasn't necessary it wouldn't be there. It's not about getting truck divers pee od. It's all about structural stability. Then there are railroad bridges. If you hit one of them and not tell anybody immediately , and a train derails, you don't have enough money. If you ever hit a rail bridge, or bottom out on a rail crossing.. Get on your phone and start calling 911 . Get hold of the railroad tell them where you are and what happened, so they can stop the train. A slow stop will get you maybe a slap on the hand. And any repairs.. But an emergency stop will cost you big time. As it puts flat spots on all of the wheels. Just something to remember if you ever foul the track.Criminey Jade Thanks this.
