Explains the securement part, but not the tarping aspect (unless it's raining of course).
I was loading up at Arcelor-Mittal in Chicago awhile back and there were lots of drivers (of various companies) tarping their loads in the docks on a perfectly sunny day while a really long line of truckers waited to load. I dunno, I think sometimes drivers get so wrapped up in what they're doing they forget that there's a bunch of people waiting.
T.M.C drivers learn some courtesy.

Yeah that's what were talking about here.it's not about being in a hurry & having no concern for safety. after seeing a load completely chained, maybe 12 chains. it's like this, DRIVER... are you done chaining down? Yes? stop right there. do you mind pulling out so other drivers can get in?
-
If it is windy enough outside I would throw my tarps inside and put a bungee on each corner and one in the middle but then after that I pull out so another driver can get in and load.

I know everytime I'm at precision strip over there in Ohio i always tarped outside unless it was rainy or freezing cold (at which everyone then will tarp and all inside and not really complain). Ive even asked for help tarping once from a driver waiting on me and he gladly helped so I could get out of there. I don't know what is so hard about that, or even lending another driver a hand. Far as ok concerned, if ya want him out of there faster, help him out otherwise stop whining and complaining. I really don't get why truckers always have to find something to whine about. If i find something I don't like ibfind a solution.
macavoy Thanks this. -
MAYBE YOU don't get it! helping is fine. it is voluntary though. that fact you think some one has a right to be rude, just cause no one is helping them is just crazy. would you give a thief something you own, so he will not steel it from you? if no then why? if you gave him some things, maybe he would not steal from you. why complain if your not going to help the thief? the ones deserving of help is the ones who get out of the way. I am not bribing or patronizing people who CHOOSE to be deliberately ignorant.
these rude drivers are not holding up docks, cause they need help. it's cause they don't give a rat's rear. now let's say some one for whatever reason does really need & deserve help, fine. PULL OUT and get helped.milskired Thanks this. -
I go to work to make $$$, not to win a game of tit for tat. If helping a rude prick will help me make money faster, I will help the rude pick. I don't care about him, my only concern is my bottom line. If you give him a hand, next time he will be more likely to realize he is holding up others. If you bark at him on the CB, it will only cause him to take the attitude that he waited his turn and take however much time he feels he needs.
I'm just a noob so I don't really know what is appropriate most of the time but if I see what I deem a hard back in and I can't do my back in until he is done, I will offer a spot, if he doesn't need it, no harm. I get to learn by watching.lester Thanks this. -
The original post was about drivers who secure and tarp their load then leave the truck sitting in the bay while they go to the bathroom and get their paperwork.
-
Ya, that's no different then than fueling up and leaving your truck parked in the fuel island while having your dinner inside at the restaurant.heavyhaulerss and milskired Thank this.
-
Yep. but the other poster would comment that if the driver is holding you up, cause your behind him, don't complain, help him. ask if you can drive his truck around the lot & find a spot to park it for him.
-
If you are sitting in the fuel line and the guy in front of you is taking a #### and the lane next to you is open, are you going to go inside to yell and the driver taking the #### or are you going to take the open lane?
I know what I'm gonna do.aiwiron Thanks this.
