I get all of the horror stories about the bottom feeder companies screwing you over and treating like crap. But does a rookie with no experience have any other choice but to work for one of the bottom feeders? I am looking at schneider tanker and Averitt. Can i do any more than to work hard and roll with the punches for the first year? Any help for a about to be new driver in Charlotte Nc would be great thank you

Both are decent companies. I would not reccommend tanker starting out. So hard to drive. Look into Shaffer Trucking. Are you going to school? If u are any school not tied to a specific company like crst etc will bring in recruiters for u to talk to. My school brought in several local companies and regional companies. If want otr though you will have to work for a company that may not be the best for I say two years. Then you can get on with anyone as long as ur record is clean. Im with Shaffer/Crete Carriers in training. I love them so far. .34 or .35 cpm. Year two goes to .42 cpm. Good luck

Are you trying to stay local? GoodWill has a transportation branch and they drive daycabs and push trailers to the stores daily. Home nightly.

Doesn't really matter i just don't want to be out longer than 2 weeks at a time.

I will move it to the new drivers forum.
If you are not afraid of tanks it may be worth giving Superior Carriers a call. They hire a few drivers who finish at the top of the class from select schools. You would make .40MT, .47 loaded plus hourly pay for everything you do.
