I know I have to earn my stripes but I have rescued a load already and I have not been late and shown I know how to trip plan so it should be progressivly be getting better but it seems to me to be going the other way. I hate having to do this all over again. I hate that 3 of 4 former bosses are now out of business so I don't have recent experience. When you drive for very small guys they usually let you run the truck any way you see fit unless you keep asking for more fuel money than they budgeted. That experience will help me run a lease truck effeciently but I need miles. I will be out till Dec. 28 and have let them know that through that special request form and If I go negative on one check between now and then I am out of here as there is no good reason(other than breakdown) that I should be negative on any full week of running. I would rather train for a month at another company than pay Trans Ams bills while I starve. My first settlement is a joke I look at it and see how much money I am losing instead of how much I made. The company I will be going back to pays lease drivers $35 an hour detention, $275 a day lay over doesn't charge for fuel routing solution and they give you pump price. The only negatives to them is not really into APU's and no 6 month lease must bring to term. My only goal is to survive this 6 months even @$500 settlement I can make that work till I can back to my old company as I will have enough recent experience. This company is cheap, its the extras that make leasing worth it. Instead of $80 stop pay for the 3 stop run I did I would have made $125. I one time made over $1000 in stop and driver assist unload in 2 days plus the 2,100 paid loaded miles. That week I made $2700 and I know that is a pipe dream here but all I need is 6 months experience and if it gets that bad here I will turn in truck @ 4 months and go back. I will make up the difference of the maintenence accounts with pay over there. This company to me is barely a step above CR England, Stevens, Mays, CRST and those are terrible companies just try to find a happy driver for them in truck stops. I have yet to meet outside this board anyone who has over 3 months experience with this company. I worked for Schneider(went through their training program which includes a skid pad), Celedon, Central Ref. and JCT so when I compare all of them have a decent to good reputation and except JCT are bigger. They all have more drop yards and all pay way better than here. Like I said I just need to finish this lease or get to 6 months of experience depending on how bad it is here then I know where I am going. Shoot even Crete said they will take me at 6 months($0.38 a mile as company and talk to their drivers) but I will consider staying but it needs to improve rapidly. I know this company doesnt give a hoot cause they will have 30 more people in orientation Wed. and the next Wed. So I am well aware of that and that plays into my decision. JCT paid me every penny of my maintenence account back $3,500 plus. I am eligable rehire at all and that should tell this company something all called to try to talk me into coming back after I had left them. So I do know what I am doing and working for the small guys has only made me more effecient all I need is recent experience and this was the only one who would hire me with 2 months recent experience. In that 2 months I ran an average of 2,800 miles on I-95 Maine to Virginia hitting 2 loading docks a day and sometime 3. I delivered into Manhatten frequently. Try doing that while getting 3 inspections 2 by MD and one by Va. with no violations all paper. I have 26 logbook inspections since January of 08 and no violations. If this company cant appreciate that then I will go to one who can I just need recent experience and provable. Getting paid off the books has serious disadvantages and now I know it has never bit me in the ### before but it has now. I know this is a lot of info but I do not lie and I try to tell the truth as much as possible( I am married so you have certain automatic answers, Like no baby your still beautiful people wont even notice that huge zit on your chin, the size of mount everest)

My heart goes out to you and Patty and to your son, Pete. As joey said there isn't much we could say in the way of advice, I'm sure that you have heard it all. I know that in the long run as a parent you just take it a step at a time and do the best you can. What we do have to offer is our friendship and support ....a shoulder to lean on and ears to listen if you or Patty should need them and heartfelt prayers that things get better for all of you.

That truck payment thing never happened for me. They charged me a truck payment on my first check. I was told it was only going to be half of the normal payment, but it was the full price.

I worked for the HeadStart program for awhile and really enjoyed it. The kids are great and most of the parents were too...the politics of it not so much. For the last 6 years I worked as a self defense and mixed martial arts instructor and judge. That I loved and do miss.

You might like going with George if he is still OTR next summer. I never have gone with Husband ...yet ....some day the planets might line up where I can.

Being an addict and deep in one's addiction, is one of the worst things in the world. Feelings just stop and are hard to get back once clean. Some of us ride that addiction to the bitter end, and some of us get lucky. Family is important, but they have to know their limits. Truth is, until the addict them self is ready, ain't nothing nobody can do. Feel bad for you Pete, but you've been there. Will keep you and yours in my thoughts.
