Most everything PC related is company policy. Like at your old company we have a policy, but enforce it here and there strictly on some and lax on others.

then you all talk about planning. how do you plan for 60 miles OOR becuase of a bridge. and another 70 miles from you actual destination. amongst other things that you didn't know about. -
