when its all said and done I would think the average o/o leased to one of the big carriers is really not making any more more money at the end of the year. I would guess 8 to 12 k a year. one of the biggest costs that no one talks about is health ins. that is something you must have. depending on age and other things that can cost you $300.00 to $1000.00 @ mo just for you now add the wife and kids. my health insurance has been north of 1500.00@ mo. for at lest the last 4 years and that's only for 2 of us. it also is the first bill that gets paid every mo.
honest answer take home pay

This is a ''loaded'' question..The ''Market'' for this freight and the fuel fluctuate so much. Many other things in business fluctuate also.It is very tough to put a number on it..I myself like the ''monthly'' avgs..
I myself gross about 20,000 a month on AVG.This month will be around 25,000.Last month was 25,000 also.My ''bring home'' avg is 11,000-15,000 a month..Again this is all dependent on so many things.
It is so very very tough to ''pin point it''... -
Something else to keep in mind, where you live and how they handle personal property taxes and pay roll taxes.
Here in Florida you pay sales tax one time and no state income taxes, what some people pay a year is also a way to lower overhead as well.landstar8891 Thanks this. -
I run only 2000 m a week. After fuel usually right below 3000. So I assume net would be around 1900. Decent compensation for my put in and the loads are usually light, some are drop and hook. weekend at home

Take home pay is very much a smoke & mirrors topic yep many of us do 2k-3k net a week. But the better question should have been what is your final net number at year end. Many owners take home 2k a week but over course of year break downs, etc. take a good chunk of change. Freedom ain't free.

Ok, I understand that most of the O/O's out there can pull in 2K a week net. I read this on TTR somewhere but don't remember where, why not pay yourself a salary under your LLC or whatever your company is and then at the end of the year give yourself a little bonus? I mean if you can take home 2K+ a week, why not put it back into the business?

As has been said some dont treat it as a business. Why invest in the future if you can't see past the end of today?
