Finishing up training portion with Swift and need to decide on terminal pick. I live in NC, so distance is about the same. Feel free to give input as far as, Office staff, dispatchers, truck selection and/or anything pro or con for both terminals. Thanks!!

I am with Greer..been there for almost 3 yrs..and I have no complaints at all..I have an amazing Driver leader and never have issues that cant be handled. I can give you very little info on Richmond but never heard nothing bad from them..Either would prolly be okay. I am very happy with greer..they have been good to me the whole time I been with swift.

How does selection of truck make/model go? Is it take what you get or a large selection to choose from? Are they reasonable about stopping by home if not far out of route?

If you are close to home and have time to stop in..they have no issues with it..They hand out whatever trucks are available..Most likely will be Volvo or Cascadia..

You pick the terminal? They don't pick for you?
I'm 2.5 hrs to Richmond, 5.5 hrs to Greer... they put me in Greer 3 yrs ago,
    Fresh outta Millington.

Greer, much bigger terminal # of trucks wise.
Gotta say support staff is excellent.
    Shop, so-so.

Richmond, smaller operation (but bigger yard).
    Nice folks there too.
    Better shop.

Doesn't really matter much as you take truck home for home time.
My first 2 yrs, I was in Greer like 5 times.

    As to the CDL test....
It's changed since I took it and depends on the tester too.
Know your pretrip, practice comment driving, know your backing, and don't stress.

If left up to me the people in Greer would be looking for a job and the peeps in Richmond
would be getting a raise .

All that "home terminal" means is that's where your DM/DL sits. Any paperwork, classroom, etc. that needs your attention, you'll be routed to the nearest terminal to take care of it.

My mentor was Northeast Regional, lived an hour south of Harrisburg, PA, and was "homed" in Phoenix. The last time that she was there was to pick up her new lease truck.
