Considering all the things you're perfect at (writing, gun collecting, computer building, etc.) one would think you'd be able to back a car onto a trailer in your sleep. You should also be able to back a trailer in your sleep as well.

Hey if you hadn't backed a car on a trailer for three years, do you think you would get it perfect on the first shot on a trailer that was different than the one you were used to, or are you perfect? Are you even a car hauler?

I am unfortunately not perfect at anythig. I have many skills, but I m perfect at none. Car hauling is hat I want to do, and all I ask in return is that I be home 48 hours every two weeks at least. I would stay ot a litte longer from time to time, but that is my self-imposed preference. I would like to be home weekly. That's all I am asking for. See this guy had several guys coming and gong at the same time while I was trying to negotiate around the large rock pile, and I held them up a couple of minutes. I would rather "waste" time than cause an accident. I think I embarrassed the guy in front of his buddies, and he decided to get rid of me rather than give me another shot. I will bet you that now that I know how wide the trailer is and the ramps, I 100% guarantee you I could get that car on there the second time if given the chance, but I was not given the chance. IMHO, like I aid before the quickest way to make this guy look better in front of his buddies was to say hey, I made a mistake, and got rid of that driver. He didn't give me another chance, That's his right, because he is the boss. You live and you learn. Will I ever get another interview or another job? Only God knows.

I am torn between telling the truth and stretching things a bit. If I say I have been of work 3 years, I probably would have never been even called back for an interview. You know how it is. I seems like it is much easier to get a job if you have one (or say you have one) than if you say you are un-employed. There is a very slight chance that the guy might have cut me some slack if I was honest and told him that I hadn't hauled cars steadily for three years, but I doubt it. I am married now, so it doesn't matter, but it is like getting a girlfriend. If you have one, every girl wants you, but if you don't, no gil i interested in you. I know it is a strange analogy, but it is about the same.

I am a little rusty, but hauling cars is like riding a bicycle. Once you know how to do it, you know how. I was very nervous, and that probably led to a lot of my mistakes. I don't know if I wrote this before, but when I was in driving school, I failed my driving test to get my CDL. The tester said she thought it was due to my nerves. When I re-took the test, my father in law gave me a 1/2 mg xanax to take before the test. I passed with flying colors (no I didn't tell the tester). Maybe I should have asked him for one before the time at the yard. I think the combination of my nerves getting the best of me and the embarrassment in front of his colleagues added up together and cost me the job, but ultimately I am the one that screwed up. I will tell you this, however. If I were presented the exact same opportunity in the exact same yard in the exact same truck with the same car to load, I would nail it. I guarantee it, but this guy didn't change his mind when he decided something, and he was not going to give me another chance.
