Thanks, Im gonna head back to FCC an pull a dry van. I did ok there and they are great people to work for. The pay is ok, I brought in 1800-2200 net most weeks and they stay busy. I love doing specialized flat/step, but it seems the companies out there take advantage of O/O. I know there are a cpl good ones but im not ready to buy a trailer yet. I need to rebuild my savings acct. and get stable again. I went to ATS because I bought in too theyre b.s., plus I wanted to get back to doing that kinda work, but 600 a week wasnt cutting it. They took care of the l/p guys first. But thank you for the well wishes!

Pound Puppy...is FCC decent to work for as a o/o (not l/o)? Just doing some inquiring.

I couldn't count how many times I have seen that truck pound puppy. How long were you at ATS? I have seen you pulling a FCC box.

Takes forever to get paid? When we drop our trippak we have a deposit in our account 7 to 8 days after we drop it, not when they receive it. If I drop it on a Tuesday, I have a deposit the following Monday or Tuesday and it takes 2 of those days to get to Carlisle! Our CSA scores for the entire fleet are 2nd among all heavy haul companies.

We left Daily today after 2 years. Freight is few and far between because they only deal with their own customers. We got tired of dead heading minimum of 150 miles, usually 200 - 300 miles for a load. When you take one, the average per mile rate goes to somewhere between 1.50 to 1.80 for an oversize load. I was offered a 13'6" wide 51,000# load yesterday, but by the time I deadheaded there it was going to be 1.85 a mile. That was the proverbial straw that broke the drivers back. We were beta testing a 24 to 36 hour pay system that was great. Soon they will be going all electronic for their paperwork. If the rates and loads pick up, it would be a great company to work for again with paperwork scan We love the people there and we love Daily, just not enough to lose our ##### right now. Hopefully this helps anyone thinking about leasing on.

Says the person who just found this forum. Excuse me for being NEW HERE, but my husband and I have been contracted to Daily for 6 years. Only 1 time in 6 years did we have an issue with our pay and it was handled immediately. Not everyone has been a member HERE since Jan 2011, macavoy. Since you have no real world experience with Daily, or any other trucking company since you are but a STUDENT, you have a lot to learn. Attack the message, not the messenger if you wish to garner respect in this industry. What a concept, address the issues instead of lobbing personal insults!!

Sorry if I got you riled up but I'm glad you came back to share more info. -
When we first came to Daily, we were team drivers. We progressed and got larger and larger loads and trailers and I was no longer needed in the truck so I got out and became his escort driver. We have been with Daily for 6 years and we have looked at other companies, but they just don't really sound that much different from Daily for freight availability and overall rates. Another company may have more freight right now, but it is all cyclical and it all changes at the drop of a hat. One big claim can get your company's contract with a shipper canceled and it goes to some other company so freight levels and rates are constantly changing.
I was saddened to read K&K's experience. The freight rates and fuel surcharges for the 3 axle trucks is not nearly as good as the rates for the 4 axle tractors and combination trailers. If our deadhead was more than we wanted to jump, we'd ask for jump money. Sometimes we'd get it, sometimes we wouldn't. As business persons, we made a decision to jump or not jump. Sometimes you have to take it in the shorts on one load to get where there is better paying freight in another region. The whole open deck industry is reeling from the huge decline in wind energy loads. Companies manufacturing the wind mills and components are not willing to completely retool and get back up to full production for just a one year extension of the Wind tax credit. Beam freight is up significantly and this is especially so for our bigger beams. We currently run an 11 axle beam.
There is no one company who is perfect for every single driver. The key is to find one where you can be happy and make a good living. With Daily, if we don't have freight for one type of trailer, we can swap trailer types if there are trailers available. After 6 years, we are still pretty happy there.
