Hello everyone I have a question. Is there a way to go around the Charlotte N.C. scale house if you're going Southbound on I-85.I was looking at that hwy 74 that passes under it. But you might have a better idea. Thanks in advance.

and why are you trying to avoid the scale house???? If it is because you are not running legally keep in mind that if you were stopped you would still be in trouble and if you were in an accident you would be totally to blame and if it was a fatal accident the lawyers would have a field day takeing away everything you own. And also there are probably not to many people on this site that will publicly tell you in writeing how to break the law

Please fallow the laws for your saftey as well as the saftey of everyone around you. Good LuckGITRDUN45 Thanks this. -
I don't think he said he was not legal. He just wanted to know about going around a scale. It isn't illegal to go around most scales.

depends on your starting point on 85 going south. I've run 150 west over to 321 south to hook back up to 85 but I was coming out of salisbury. not sure of a close in route around that one but i'm sure somebody more local would know one. they sit down on 74 sometimes just looking for guys trying to run the close in route around it.

Yes you can go one exit east on 485 and get off and go south.
It brings you out below the scales.
They often have a DOT Trooper sitting down there so it is a chance.rjones56, Tonythetruckerdude, bigdog4981 and 2 others Thank this. -
Run down 77 into South Carolina and cut west.

Maybe he just wants a break from the scales. Even I get tired of dealing with them. Don't accuse if you don't know the reason why.TwinStickPeterbilt, truckon, Charli Girl and 8 others Thank this.

It's also a blitz week too, so there maybe more DOT out running the roads.

You can avoid it on the north side of the scales too. There are a couple state highways just north on 485 that will get you past the scales.
