From the looks of things, it looks as though ALL truck drivers, (students, rookies, and veterans alike), are eventually going to be tested for sleep apnea, REGARDLESS of age, height, weight, BMI, neck size, or physical fitness status of the individual truck driver.
Sleep apnea has become a VERY SERIOUS issue along with, blood pressure, sugar levels, BMI, cholesterol, triglycerides, circulation and blood clotting issues. The federal government, insurance companies, and the trucking companies could all eventually introduce military physical fitness and health standards to both ensure and comply with VERY SERIOUS health and safety issues.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.! -
Don't feel real comfortable posting that right now...never know who may be watching

Take a deep breath and relax. First off, were you not given a medical card after you finished your physical? I am unaware of any Walmart policy requiring a medical certification of one year or more. There are a lot of older drivers here, some of whom develop health issues that result in 3 month certifications pending additional treatment. If you have or are suspected of having sleep apnea, Walmart will pay for 100% of the cost of treatment. They encourage drivers to be tested, and thus pay the whole cost. As someone who has been treated for sleep apnea, the costs for treatment can run in the thousands of dollars. The same applies for other health issues, such as smoking, which Walmart pays the entire cost of a quit smoking program.
Stay excited and relax. Get more of the facts first. Walmart does not dictate to the medical examiner who is or is not qualified. I know this because I have some serious health issues myself.

well there you goes toms one of them every helpful drivers I just spoke about. I think you probably just made his day tom

Nope...sorry tom as much as I want to believe in what you are saying, not the way it works now....walmart does have a form the ME has to fill out and your DOT isn't completed until you have a sleep study(if your in the range of concern) and if you can't get your Card with a MINIMUM one year cert you cannot be hired...what you say May be true with current employees of walmart but not new hires
Chewey Thanks this. -
Oh and I was not given a medical card when finished....she said she was going to put it on"hold" until I talked with walmart....
