No I don't fly fish. Icaught that and many others on spinners that I make. we went down there last month for the record run of salmon and I t was a lot of fun , but they don't fight nothing like the steelhead that's for sure. I don't know what would fight like a big 20 pound steelhead, it would have to be a Marlin or some other sort of billfish I'm sure.
I'm in my camper bouncing around here and There, fir now I'm too cheap to pay the prices of an rv lot but they are going from 400 to 700 a month but the couple I've talked to have a wating list a mile deep. The place I was at yesterday wanted 10 bucks to dump and had 4 non monthly spots available but at 35 dollars a day it was almost and they said they would cut me a break and only charge me 800 for the month. ..ouch! I am now number 60 on their waiting list ..ib told her to call me in 5 years haha. Thereis a complete dump of a truckstop across from piolot in midessa that people have been staying in their campers fir free. The shiwers are 5 bucks and the nastiest ones I've seen yet. But it does have lots of room. You can't drink the water here from what I'm told. And everything does cost a little more than other places except for gas its alot cheaper. Good luck

10speed55 Thanks this. -
with 10 years experience you won't have a problem getting hired. if i were you i'd shoot for a crude hauling job. check out Oxy, they're the #1 oil producer in texas. but most crude hauling companies pay well.
if you don't mind hard manual labor, swinging hammers and lifting iron, you could work for one of the dozens of service companies. i would stay away from the big companies (halliburton/baker hughes/cudd) because they don't pay as well as the locals. look up Superior Energy (not superior wells), they own like 30 companies in the area and are all good to work for with good benefits. warrior, rising star, BTI etc, all are good companies that pay.
you could also go the water hauling route... that's probably the most common cdl job in the oil field. but shop around. ask them if they pay by the hour or by ticket time. Ticket time is what you want because you get paid something like 3 hrs for every load, and it might only take you an hour or 2 to get it done. pipe hauling companies often pay ticket time as well. Sand hauling is another good gig. check out G&RG trucking in odessa they have a beautiful fleet of trucks and pay nice. they haul sand
if you're down or some heavy haul, you could get into rig moving. check out Precision Drilling Transportation. they pay very nice. those guys are getting $4-5,000 paychecks.
basically the best advice i can give is to not accept a job forl less than 18/hr. shop around. i wish i had 10yrs driving experience! good luck to you -
D&T trucking pulls pneumatic trailers.. I've heard good things about those guys, and got tons of trucks in midessa area working. I'm unsure of their terminal home though.

D & T are some of the lowest bottom feeders in the oil patch. Their HQ is in Weatherford where I live. They got started in Barnett and were good. Spread out to other plays. Got too big too soon. Now play games with drivers money and time. Nothing to see their drivers sitting in Odessa, Pearsall, Shattuck etc for 3-6 days at a time. Sitting waiting for work. They pay 27%. But 27% of less then $2.75 a mile is crap. Going rate has always been $4.25 up. Guy I hauled with had been chief dispatcher for them. They even screwed him. lol Don't buy the sales pitch. The glory days of sand are gone. Unless there is drastic upturn in economy. There are so many down and out Americans{and of course the usual criminal illegals that smell money5000 miles away} that the rates suck. At least in TX. And they just keep cutting each others rates and throats. What used to pay$2500 a week and up is now $1300 and down. For living in truck. No bath for days at a time. Lots of other inconveniences. And that is all the big money has ever been for. Your inconvenience. Not particularly hard work physically. Just lots of miles and hours. Sleep couple of hours a day for week. Juggle log book. Etc.rookietrucker Thanks this.
