Can any current Smith Transport drivers give me info on Smith? Stuff like speed of trucks, do they have refrigerator's, inverters, condition of trucks, wash policy and so on. Thanks so much.

Some quick info.... We are allowed on wash a month at any blue beacon some location as for PO some dont just call shop to get one. New hires normally get choice of trucks. In orientation they ask your preference of trucks: long hoods normally will be older model Pete or Coranado 2008/2009 and if you prefer shorter hoods 387 Peterbilts and Cascadias 2010/2012. All ISX and DD15 450/475 1650/1750 torque. Trucks set at 65-68. They have a driver reward program where your truck will run up to 68/69 based on fuel mileage. You have to take a csa class and and drive a simulator all which is offered during orientation. No inverters some trucks have fridge. oh after a few months you will get a chance to upgrade to a newer truck. New trucks are 2013 389 Petes and coranado. Paper logs lotsa east coast can make a decent living if you r a runner home weekly or bi weekly. Pay is on lower side 35 cpm but they pay extra for shorter runs which you will get quite a bit of and monthly mileage bonus which is easily attainable. Decent living nothing to brag about but at the same time you can survive:) Just have to let your dispatcher how you like to run,,,,

Drove for Smith Transport and would never go back. Bad maintenance, bad communication just not worth the agrvation. Besides running around to paper mills on two lane moutain roads do not make you money. When a triler you hook onto that just had a shop annual performed on it and you lose wheels off a trailer that should tell you something. Should have checked the lug nuts yea sure, can you grab a lug nut with your hand and see if its torqued to 450 ft lbs? No
For seasoned drivers that need a laugh you road test in a simulator! Yep I thought I was going to fail as I couldn't find a slot to put the dollar into!

What's funny is this guy decides to get info on the company AFTER he gets to orientation. Not indicative of a mental heavyweight.:biggrin_25520:
