This is exactly what ive been doing minus the rent payment. I did my first year with Roehl. The way I save is by having two accounts. My checking where my direct deposit comes and a savings. Once I'm paid i transfer everything to my saving except for 100-150 for food, tolls, and scale. Then i repeat this every week. Then I watch my money grow.

Sounds like you're stacking that bank account good. Anybody else have any good ideas?

Many have said it, but it is too true. Buy a plug in cooler or fridge. Then always have milk, cereal, bread, PB, and yogurt. You can live off of that for a week easy.

Stop at rest areas at night to sleep, you cant spend money if there is no where to spend it.

If you are going to stop for the night at a TS, stop an hour or so before you get there and have a big meal from the food in your truck. That way you wont end up spending $10 on fast food because the smell got you and you were hungry when you stopped.

Get one of those big ##### coffee jugs and use it for jsut ice water. Fill it up in the morning before you leave, so many good health benifits it isnt even funny.

    Dont smoke.

    Dont chew.

Those are the big ones. Buy a laptop for the truck, you can play games, watch dvd's, all kinds of free entertainment. Get the redbox app for your phone, and take you lazy ##### for a walk and get a 1.29 movie for the night, then walk it back in the morning. :)

    TruckinWithJosh Thanks this.

Well I planned on plug in cooler and basic foods like pb and j, oatmeal, stuff like that. I really only wanna keep the TS to fuel, showers, sleep, laundry, lil gifts for the nephew now again, im pretty good with making money last and budgeting, im trying to quit smoking cigs, im down to two packs a week if that some times, chewing is nasty, got a laptop andmtablet already, netflix too. I dont plan one of them lazy truckers. Ive already dropped 40lbs to be in beter shape for the otr lifestyle

Get a microwave and a fridge in the truck.

Right now I am spending less than 400 a month on food and I eat good. I just cook it myself most of the time, eat out about once or twice a week.

What will really get you though is that once you have been cooking for yourself for a while and eating healthier food, eating at Mc Donalds are Whataburger, Burger King ect. will make you sick as a dog!

I got a college fridge, microwave not to worried yet, just use the exhaust manifold for some cooking it lol. Ive been staying away from fast food. 99% of the time, I don't mess with that rest stop/truck stop food. Thats pretty good at about $400 a month.

Oh, and the other thing to stock up on are the chicken and tuna salads in a can with crackers. Like 1.25 each at walmart. Use the spready to make 2 sandwiches, some cold milk from your fridge, eat the crackers whilde driving, and you just had a good mean for less than $2

Pawn shops, lots of tools there available cheap. The great thing about cheap tools is you can break em, you can modify them, you can lose em and you don't have to get heart burn over it.
