SheepDog post got me thinking about something a few drivers used to ask me "did you make you're boss man proud today" i was a rookie running Bronx,Brooklyn, queens, scared to death.learned to ask every question, you could think. Don't know how I made it but proud I did.now days run where ever when ever.
How many o/o are proud of what they do?

Most of the public doesn't understand what being a professional driver entails..if they did a little more respect would be givin around the truck.
Proud of what I do? I'm proud of providing for my family..and having the ability to help my neighbors.Last edited: Oct 26, 2013

most people work their whole lives to retirement. some buy a motorhome and travel the country.
me, i'm getting paid for my retirement. she's not as nice as an actual motorhome would be. but she gets the job done.
by the time i retire. i won't want to see the country. instead. i'll be reeling in the fish. and getting drunk.GITRDUN45, SheepDog, Lucar and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm proud of what I do.I enjoy what I do and I enjoy the challenge of driving everyday in different areas and conditions. If your not proud of what you do whats the sense in doing it.

Yes. I accomplished my career goals in my 30s, so being the slacker that I am, now I only work half the year to keep my taxes low. Still drive same truck, no scratches on original paint, I am a safe and proud trucker.
However, I am still kicking myself for getting into trucking in the first place!snowwy Thanks this. -
Proud of what I do you dang right. Says a lot to me, that I done a good job providing and caring for my family that my son wants to follow my lead. Not in my shadow but make his own good name in this business. He could do any thing he chooses, but here he is. Being an O/O couldn't have been that bad if he has enough pride in the job I done to want to follow.
GITRDUN45 Thanks this. -
my son wants to follow my lead. i told him he's an idiot.
in 10 years cars won't have anything to break down. they'll all be battery operated and solid rubber tires. and i certainly wouldn't want him to become a trucker. giving up his home lifestyle.
so he joins the marines to be a mechanic. i went to community college. so far he hasn't listened to my advice. i really hope he doesn't become a trucker. later on in life. like me. -
I am. Family first
