DenaliDad, you're so right! I was so sick of clutching and defensive driving. Luvtotruck, I headed down to Oshkosh, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, and I-80.
I ran 591 miles today to Gretna, NE. The company called me right after I parked and said that they had a driver coming off of home time in Omaha who can relay this for me. I only have 12 hours available tomorrow, then 5.9 on Monday so there was no way I was going to be able to finish this. My new load picks up in Grand Island, NE tomorrow going to El Monte, CA for Wednesday and about 1,550 miles. Sad though that I'll get through Las Vegas and can only wave as I go by!
So, how did I smoke my logbook? My running total for the last 7 days is: 3,276 miles including 3 hours in Chicago traffic where I definitely did not log any off duty time. That (ahem) would be illegal! Does JCT have miles? Ask anyone. . .
Running with JCT

I also use Trip A&B for tracking mileage instead of the default key on, otherwise it will reset your mileage on key off. I also use the tank fuelling to keep track of gallons remaining since I tend to stretch it to reach the next fuel stop (215-220 is not uncommon for me).
Don't forget to RTFMluvtotruck, Sharpp and Joker85 Thank this. -
What's RTFM so it'll actually tell you how many gallons you have left

RTFM=read the freakin manual
563 miles today. For the last 1527 miles I avg 7.1 mpg, much of it through mtns.ritchie lee and Joker85 Thank this. -

I got up pretty early and bobtailed over to Council Bluffs to pick up an empty. The guard gave me a number that turned out to be the best trailer I've pulled in a long time! Unfortunately, I was only dragging it 150 miles over to Grand Island for a drop and hook. The best that I could hope for was a sideways trade; this trailer had the skirt AND super-singles and pulled NICE! I got somewhat lucky drawing a nice, new trailer with a skirt and duals. It still pulled great and I got 7.2 mpg loaded at 71.5k#, uphill, and into the wind.
My logbook is still a smoldering mess as I'm only carrying over two hours tonight to add to tomorrow's 5.9. That's going to get me to Richfield, UT (maybe) leaving me 540 miles to El Monte to make with my less than 10 hour carry-over for Tuesday. Worst-case scenario is to shut down in Barstow or Hesperia and go down the hill Wednesday morning. Don't you just love running on recap!?!?!luvtotruck Thanks this.
