Im still alive. Im getting screwed on one of my home time days, but I will just take off another day. Friday My Dm had everything fixed for me to pick-up in Friona,Tx and the load was T-Called to Olathe, so I could have Home time. Well the weekend idiots came in a took the T-Call off of the load. Well I argued with them long enough they wore me out. I even threatened to bring the truck and the loaded trailer to the yard. So I just decided to be the better man, and deliver the load, and take their money, and go home a day later. Weekend people suck!!!

Dam that stinks kirk but at least you are looking at it the right way.

As far as I know they do not give any test on maps. That guy Joe said in the orientation class that all you need is the GPS in the truck and just read the signs.
I am not against the e-logs but a lot of new drivers don't have a clue about the HOS rules cause they rely totally on the machine. I think that is not very smart but hey I know what I am doing so that is all I am going to worry about.
When I get a chance to train I will have the students map everything out so if the system does go down they will not be in trouble. When I trained before I used to buy a map for the students when they left the truck. In Schneiders training program they trained you to use the map and also went over the HOS rules with the book so by the time we went out it was just practical application. I thought everyone did that well at Central I was very surprised when the first student had no idea where anything was in the map so it is not just here.

How does that split break work again. * hours in the sleeper berth and 3 hours off duty and you can't be over 11 hours of driving on either side of the breaks and also not over your 14 hours too? It has been years since I used it. Do they get upset if you use it here? Thank you

I spent with the weekend in Wellington with my four young grandchildren...fun.
George is stuck in Olathe, but hopes two days off next weekend for his birthday.

Sorry, kirk. The weekend dispatch is a horrible bunch of mean spirited morons for the most part .....Husband informed them of that and a few other descriptive terms when they kept him out past his 2 week notice. There is usually one on duty that has a clue of what is going on ....the trick is to figure out who is there and ask for them .....sometimes it works.

Jaso, there have been times that the elog system has failed and you have to use paper logs. Husband had that happen twice ...so going over paper logs with your students would be a great idea also. As Pete said the elogs do make using the split break easy ....Husband used it to his advantage many times. From the research that I have done on it before, the problem with doing it on paper logs is that even if you do it correctly there is no guarantee that the DOT officer that you are dealing with understands it properly. They did a survey awhile back ....and big surprise ...many of them failed it. With the elogs it is never questioned.

I have never tried to use the split sleeper until I came here, and really don't know how to explain it, but you can do it. Just look at the e-log and it will tell you green yellow or red. LOL I thought that was kinda funny.
