Just finished orientation at colonial freight systems. These folks seem like good people so far. First run is from fort mill, sc to San Antonio, tx. Money sounds good so far, nice equipment. Ready to roll!

You could call them and ask but I don't think so. I think they are pretty strict on the background checks and stuff like that.

I worked for this outfit back in 2009 for about 7 weeks. I ran from Tennessee out to California and back. Stayed out for about 2 weeks at a time and my paychecks were CRAP. I would only get a check about every 3 weeks. The other weeks I would owe them money. I owned 2 trucks before I went with CFS and got out of it due to an accident. I'm not one of these solar powered drivers nor am I one of these drivers that follows every log book rule. I make my log book work for me. I currently run about 4000 miles per week with the company I'm with now so obviously I'm not afraid of work. There was a lot of waiting time with CFS and they gave you too much time to make your deliveries. Maybe things have changed now but when I was there, they were bleeding drivers.

Thank you a lot driver,I appreciate the feed back.it is hard to find a good job,I guess I will keep looking,I really Dont want to work for a company but really Dont have a choice.but not gonna go where I am gonna starve.

I work with colonial and they have been good to me.. The quote they gave you is correct, but you have to run to make that kind of money.. You can't be at home all weekend and make that type of money but if your house is in route you could make it work.. i must say i have never made 2000 but i don't go everywhere.. i pretty much go from nc to tx or tn to tx and they do make it so you can run legal and make money.. i had like 57 hrs on my 70 and my check was in that quote but there are weeks when you want do that well because you might have to do stuff to your truck like oil and tires..

I got a 1099-Misc form in the mail from them. I didn't get a print out for the fuel I purchased, tractor payment, my highway tax in each state, nor did I get anything about insurance premiums I paid in, IFTA premiums I paid. If they're supposedly so good of a place to work. Then why did I not get this information, so I can file my taxes. If you truly like broken promises, the lies, and believe me you will hear the lies. Just sit back, listen, and take notes. They will hang themselves. It's only a matter of time. They probably have David McBride on here posting on how good the company is under a different name to fool new drivers. They're vindictive. If the government would penalize them and shut them down, and make them payback all of the nefarious things they do to their drivers. Ripping off drivers isn't the solution. My wife was having problems during her pregnancy. They got mad and decided to take advantage of me, just because, I made a choice to be there for my wife and unborn child. The President of the company tried to throw the failure off on me by saying, "He went home too much". My wife replied, "My husband was being here for me because I had some serious problems in my pregnancy. My husband made the right call by being here for me during this difficult time, and this is your way to show your gratitude by ripping him off". The President of the company, Ruby McBride couldn't say anything without incriminating herself and Colonial Freight Systems.
They will tell you what you want to hear. They do this to everyone. Pass a long the true negativity about this company, before they rip off someone else.
A very true example on how well they lie to their drivers. They told me during orientation that they take child support you have to pay out of your settlement each week. I called the child support office inquiring about them taking out my payments. The child support office told me they won't take it out, because you are a contractor, and not an employee. This is proof, they're vindictive. Look at all of the postings about them. You will see the bad outweigh the good. Stay away from CFS. These warnings are very true. Yeah, they're nice to you, and they will wine and dine you to convince they are a good company, but they're not.
They even have David McBride on LinkedIn trying to get drivers to come aboard with them. They spend millions on recruiting to get drivers to come aboard with them. Millions of dollars of other driver's money they work hard for, just so they can rip you off. They will use every catch phrase there are out there.
They even have David McBride posting YouTube videos of their trucks, and their recruiting campaigns, just so they can rip off someone else. David McBride and the recruiting staff are very good in misleading you.
There was a driver that wanted to go home and talk to his lawyer about their lease agreement before signing it. David McBride said this from his own mouth, "We have a limited amount of openings here. If you don't sign today. I have to bring someone else in your place". I heard him personally tell this driver everything I have mentioned.
Eventhough, it's a supposed, "Walk away lease agreement". If that's true, why would I get in the mail, a bill from them that I owe over 7,000 for a truck that I cleaned up thoroughly, and handed the keys back to them? I left in good standing. My wife called them and said, "Why is my husband having to pay for a truck that he hasn't driven in 3 months, and you have the audacity to get him to pay for a truck?". This is supposedly a walk away lease agreement.
Still not convinced. Go ahead and go to their orientation. Come back on here in 3 months from now, and say, and prove you're not David McBride, and you're not getting paid to tell others how well you are doing. Best advice to you, if you turn the truck back in. Keep everything you got from CFS put up, because you will need it later on after you quit the company, or walk away from the lease without losing everything you got first.
Luckily for me, I saw what they're doing, before I lost everything I worked hard for. My daughter was born healthy and happy, because I made the right call for the welfare, and happiness of my kids, and family.Last edited: Feb 2, 2015

That amount is what they get from the load. Take off 67% of that, and factor everything in. By the time you take out your fuel, food expense, and believe me your fuel will be biggest expense, plus the truck payment, and your workman's compensation. Whaaat, workman's compensation? Yeah, read everything before you sign is all I got to say. Let me know how you favor with that. Let me know, how well you do. Folks, this driver is going to fall right into that trap, just like I did. This driver is only seeing the dollar signs, and not the overall picture here. I am going to sit back, and just watch everything unfolds.
