Just shut down north of Little Rock, 604 miles today. Still at 7.2 mpg over the last 2130 miles. All but 2 fuel purchases, below national avg price. Those 2 were small, strategic buys in Cali. Overall, feeling pretty good with 2 more days to cover 1050 miles to the receiver. And. My wife says the roads in Oklahoma suck. Her words exactly. lol
Oh, wanted to add that I got one of the dreaded R trailers with duals and no aero enhancements.

Thank you for this thread. It gives me hope and something to shoot for when I get into this new world. I am currently in school and going for the oilfields after. However, this thread is making think about OTR and being my own "boss" in the future.

The wind in Wyoming was brutal yesterday. Even though I no longer pay for my own fuel anymore I still drive like I do. A 40 mph quartering head wind from Cheyenne to Evanston was no joke.
On a funny note though, I found out yesterday if the shipper over fills the airbags in the trailer (the ones they put between pallets) that a large increase in alltitude, say on top of Sherman on I-80, will cause them to explode. I got the #### scared out if me when one went halfway down the hill. Thought it was a tire.TrukTuff, Sharpp, luvtotruck and 1 other person Thank this. -
So I decided in preparation to doing whatever I'm going to do I'd try out the new road division of LTL outfit I'm at to dust of my trip planning skills.
In talking with the terminal manager and division manager they both seemed put off when they made a comment about stretching but not breaking the rules running paper logs and I said I didn't play funny numbers in my book. 15min is one things but tbey were talking running an hour over for "a load that has to deliver."
This doesn't bode well... -

#Recap? Hah! I laugh at recaps. -
I only recall following the blue flashing lights on the plow in front of me because that's all I could see. I have never been so scared. Even in the jungles of Viet Nam or the Combat Zone of Boston.TrukTuff, luvtotruck and Sharpp Thank this.
