Thanks Tom. Got all my ducks in a row already for the accident review if I get reinstated. The accident was on the 4th of Oct. The text I sent was on the 1st of Oct. Thankfully it was only me involved in the jackknife. Typical Wyo traffic. Me and the antelope! I see that you are new to Wal Mart. I wish you well.! I had the opportunity to meet Sam Walton in the summer of 1991. He came to 6819 for his first visit. We opened in 1990. I wish the Wal Mart Culture was as it was back then. It truly is not the same Company. Talk to some of the old hands there and they will tell you the same. Wal Mart is still the best place to drive a truck on the face of the earth. But it is not the Wal Mart that Mr. Sam started. Thanks for your kind words and best of luck to you.

Yes, I have only been here a few months. The changing times with more and more regulations, higher operating costs, and lots of attorneys looking to stick their hands deep into Walmart's pockets has resulted in the job as a driver here to change as well. I experienced the same changes occurring at UPS too. The big difference between the two companies is that Walmart has a friendlier work environment.

What are some of the things about Walmart that you feel have changed? The equipment you drive has certainly changed for the better as you no longer drive those International cabovers, but what specifically has changed for the worse and do you think it could ever return? I was chatting with a group of about 8 drivers on Sunday at the DC in Sealy and the biggest complaints I have heard was how much the job would be better if the company would stop focusing so so much on performance statistics (fuel MPG, productivity levels, excess miles, etc.). So far I do not feel I am being micromanaged, especially compared to UPS. I hope the culture here does not worsen. I would hate to see a lot of great drivers look to leave for this reason.

I would have liked to have met Sam.

My wife and I are on the same carrier, under the same plan, on the same bill, but her texts have a two-hour difference time-stamp from mine. Both of our phone's setting are time & date automatic; meaning they are set to the system time and time on her phone is correct (as is mine).

If the OP were involved in a court case a half-decent lawyer would likely have reasonable doubt cast on the phone record quite easily.

unfortunately for me I was terminated as a result of the cell phone use while my truck was in motion. 23 years and nothing but glowing yearly reviews and one mistake and its over. Received my 20 year accident free ring from wal mart last year. oct 4, 2013 I had a non preventable jackknife, my first accident with wal mart and a non DOT reportable at that. still cant believe its over. it doesn't seem that the punishment fits the crime. walmarts call but it is very harsh. I have begun hauling crude oil as it is the only thing I can do that sort of comes close to the salary I lost with walmart. driving night shift and hating it. thankful for work, but very discouraged. this is going to be a tough year as we now have to shop for healthcare as well. I am finding out that the affordable healthcare act is a fricking joke! not affordable at all! this is not where I wanted to be at this stage of my life. still, God is in the heavens and I continue to pray for his will to be done and not mine. wishing all who have followed this post a very merry Christmas and God's richest blessings!

    Gizmo,
Did the Qualcomm show you actually in motion or just on duty driving? You may have pulled into a store or truckstop or even been at the gate when you sent this message. As such, not actually driving. I woud consult a lawyer about this. Might not help but you never know. Often walmart will fold on any lawsuit...let us know how it turns out.

Chewey, I told Gizmo a few months ago "Time stamps on text messages are not always accurate due to network traffic, down cell towers, etc. The time stamp occurs when it is directed through the cell provider router, not the time it was sent from the phone. Occasionally these times can be off by several hours, especially in rural areas."

I would fight the hell out of this is if had occurred to me, especially without out beyond a reasonable doubt facts about when the text was sent and how it did not have any connection to the accident. Gizmo said it occurred 3 days prior to the accident and because he gave Walmart phone records for the month, they went fishing for this whole texting issue!

Boy o boy, Tom of Texas, a few months ago you were a big cheer leader for walmart. What happened? I've seen a few of your last posts and you seem to wanna have yourself or someone else sue them at all costs LOL. Wait till nyvet and drozzer see these posts LOL They will be giving you the business LOL Walmart is just another driving job, a little more cash but same bs we all go through. I do have a friend who drives there so I know a little about them. Some guys with great, home daily jobs went there and made a big mistake. I do know the pay if anyone is interested. Its good but not Great. $14.00 dollars an hour for orientation should tell ya something. For those who think thats great money, god bless em. The mileage rate starts at .42 cents a mile. To each his own though, I dont wanna get in a pissing match with guys who think they are better than everyone else, so I'll stop there LOL. Just suprised to see that your eyes were open so quickly to the Walmart culture. Good Luck

Nothing has changed except how you are perceiving my statements. In this thread, I reposted part of a statement I made months ago. Could it be that you are drawing a false conclusion? Yes. You are. Just like your perception of any of us here claiming to be better because we work for Walmart Transportation. That is all in your mind. Considering you were applying to Walmart last summer and were never hired, it looks like sour grapes on your part. I stand by my previous statements pertaining to Walmart Transportation. You have the misperception that if I disagreed with something Walmart Transportation were to do that somehow I have flip-flopped my positions. Not true. Get all the facts next time. You look foolish.
