Some are assigned to military and government. They ARE used but not in the way CBers are accustomed. Some of it is digital and data that a voice station would not understand nor decode. And of course, the Amateurs are assigned 28 and 29 MHZ by treaty and International law. It is an unfortunate thing, and a peculiar trait of 11 Meters, lacking training nor regulation, that people think that there is no harm, reason, nor restriction for people to just use whatever frequencies they desire. Some even think they have a "right" simply because they were born:biggrin_25512:. Such is not the case. ALL radio is "licensed" in the USA and its territories--even CB radio is "licensed"; there's just no paper license. CB operators have exactly 40 channels, no more, no less. on which to conduct their business (or foolishness), and no other "channels" are available to them. Intrude into the Amateur bands, yes, you will hear from the hams, sometimes rather rudely!:biggrin_2555: Truckers and local CB ops have received warning letters from FCC about going onto these "extra" channels. The hams will even go out and Direction Find these intruders and there are very good at it, too! If you have no license authorization, you are not welcome on those "extra" channels, and the potential fines are not worth it! Forty channels are PLENTY. I'd leave those "extree" channels alone!!!!! :)

Don't know how to take that Don.....so I'll spin it positive.......and you're right......The locals actually burned several Vietnamese boats to the water line several years back.

They ended up getting run off the marine channels. Pilots get pissed when they trying to push up thousands of tons of ship and can't com with the tugs.

    jmo...

Sure wish they would stay off 19 for a change, get tired of hearing HAM's on my CB, had one last week running his mouth while drivers were trying to find out about a wreck, he was in the same state I was driving through and trying to contact someone in Arizona.

Probably just some mouth-breathing meatsack being a jerk with a CB and a huge amp.
Just because they're blowing out everyone elses radio for miles doesn't make them a ham.
