Seems like 2 months ago, I started seeing Daily & ATS posting a lot more Cat freight. Did they just do an RFP? Perhaps Keen & Midwest were to pricey? Keen has been seen hauling a lot of "new" ie non-Cat freight lately.

Well I really hate to say this, but we got some of the export contracts for Cat.
But it's so cheap I have refused to haul any and now I am getting somewhat punished. So to the ld. boards I go.
It's sad when a parts ld. will allmost make you more than the oversize ld. When you factor time and fuel into it

They may have done an RFP recently, I don't know for sure. It could have been the reason for some of the rates I was quoted. Its not a comfortable position to be in, one I was worried about from the get go.

Trust me, you will have good months and bad ones. Look at it quarter by quarter and year end.
But do not try and compare apples and oranges. Different types of fruit so to speak

Sooooo....we bought out first 3 axle trailer last week. I am concerned about permitting. I obviously would prefer not to make any costly mistakes. Can any of you HH operators suggest any good resources to avoid mistakes?

Also, our company trucks are not spec'd for heavy haul. In fact, we tend to spec light for weight savings. My younger brother is very concerned about component failure. The mechanical side of trucking has never been my strong suit. I am estimating our max payload will be in the 70K range. What concerns would all of you have?
