Sleep tests only prove one thing and that is if you have sleep apnea or not. I don't think neck size should have anything to do with getting the job. The only thing neck size tells about you in my opinion is the amount of time you have behind the wheel since truckers look into their mirrors more times in a day than someone that just commutes back and forth to work. 13 hour is a legal day here in Canada and there is a lot of backing up so you are constantly looking left mirror right mirror etc. There fore there is a significant difference in a truck drivers neck size as opposed to the general public. I would love to hear what they come up to defend that little fact. Cheers

Went to my Dr. And she said I didn't have nor show signs of sleep apnea in her opinion so she ordered me an oxygen sensor that I sleep with for one night at home and it just measures my o2 level to see if I stop breathing....she said no to a sleep test?

Good to hear. If your O2 levels stay above 88% all night, you do not have sleep apnea to the level that treatment with a CPAP machine is needed and/or should ever cause daytime sleepiness. In my case, it turned out I did have sleep apnea and my O2 levels would drop in to the 70% range about every 2 hours while I slept. With treatment from the CPAP machine, my O2 levels average about 95% all night, which is great. Even though I did not show any normal symptoms of sleep apnea, I did have it and it was classified as severe.

I was resistant to the CPAP treatment initially, feeling angry that I needed this treatment in order to remain certified to drive. I reached out to others on some of the sleep apnea forums online, which made me not feel so alone in dealing with the sleep apnea. After a few weeks, I became accustomed to using the CPAP machine and was feeling a lot more rested. My blood pressure has been lower and I have lost about 30 pounds in the past few months. While I ultimately want to be free from using the CPAP machine in the future, using it now is the key to getting to that point.

If you do not have it, great. If you do have sleep apnea, it is pretty normal to resist the treatment in the beginning. The positive results you will feel is what helps you be more accepting of the treatment. Hope your overnight O2 testing goes well. :)
