Does the camera face u as well as forward. I like the forward facing camera, but there is no reason to have a camera facing the driver. Remember those cameras are more than likely monitored by people who work at a computer all day and most have never been behind the wheel of a truck before. Bottom line is if a driver delivers the product safely and timely we are doing our job, there is no need to watch us. Ask any office worker how they would like a camera staring at them all day and I betcha u will get a unanimous hell no. In response to your comment. Most of us out here give these companies 110% and there is no need for them to watch me pick my nose if I want to. There is no justification for this type of invasive monitoring.

Well buddy when your good u can be choosy. U think loyality is going to win u any points with them then fine, stay there until u r too old to do anything else. Standing up for your rights and doing whats best for your own bottom line and job satisfaction is high priority for me. Im doing very well thanks and I bet I make more and have it a lot easier than you. The fact that u r seeking me out in other threads just proves my point as to what u really do. Oops again uh? If Im wrong and u r so happy where u r why r u looking at this thread? Kinda creepy, r u stalking me? Wow

So you want to work at Linde. Lots of jobs posted for bulk drivers nation wide. In my opinion here are the pros and cons. Keep in mind I quit them because it just wasnt for me.
    Pros:
    1. Stable not really affected by economic swings. Your pay may fluctuate some and you may get layed off but really they have a unique market niche delivering compressed liquid gasses nitrogen, oxygen, argon, hydrogen and helium
    2. Pretty good pay normally 800-1200/wk for 60 hrs depending where u work. Thats avg some higher some lower.
    3. Benefits although Ive had better. Med/dental, paid holidays although u normally have to work them,, up to 5 weeks vacation with time, funeral pay, company paid 401
    4. Fairly clean
    5. Boots, uniform shirts, personal protective equipment supplied
    6. Home everyday most of the time if u r local
    7. Fixed start times and days off

    Con:
    1. Talk safety but send you to some if the worst delivery locations I have ever been in. When u bring it up they glaze over because they wont dare offend a customer
    2. Must wear PErsonal Protective Equipment including long sleeves, helmet, ear covers, steel toed boots, gloves, face shield and at times Nomex material if delivering to chemical or refineries. If u deliver hydrogen nomex at all times. Nomex is a flame retardant type material to protect u in case of a flash fire
    3. Standing outside pumping the product off in all types of weather
    4. Slip seat. Most days you will use more than one truck. Empty one head back for another. Multiple pre/post trips including fueling and sometimes reloading product.
    5. Deliver to oil refineries and chemical plants, steel plants, scrap recycling plants etc. Dirty dangerous environment.
    6. Cameras in trucks facing out and at driver
    7. No phone, cb, or anything that may distract u while u r driving
    8. Electronic logs. Absolutely no forgiveness
    9. Dispatched by local person in your terminal who will control how much u make but controlled by very young dispatchers in New Jersey. New Jersey is who you call once u leave your plant
    10. Very strict with drivers. No forgiveness period.
    11. Drivers compete with one another. In other words when you r new they wont like u very well because u r basically taking work from them. Many wont talk to you because of this.
    12. If u want to make the big bucks you have to deliver Hydrogen and most of that is teaming over the road. Hydrogen is a dangerous gas to handle.

All in all it wasnt for me. Being a driver means u want to work a nontraditional job and enjoy the freedom that comes with it. The cameras facing the drivers was the last straw for me. I also hated peoplenet. You may love it there, but it just wasnt for me

They have jobs posted at many locations across the company. Just know what you r getting yourself into. Linde is a foreign company owned by the Germans. They purchased what use to be BOC in this country. Good luck to you.

I have to agree with Joe. STAY AWAY from Linde, especially in the Delta Ohio area. The manager Joe is talking about got one driver, with thirty years at the company, fired. How? By comparing his company phone records with his people net logs, BEFORE the camera was installed in his truck. No questions, just given the option to retire or be fired. Which is ok that he got to retire but he planned on working 2 more years. And those who say you have a second chance for a seatbelt violation.....not at Delta. The manager there, TA, has a napoleon type syndrome because he is so short in stature. He was made fun of in school and now that he has a little power he flaunts it like North Korean dictator. By the way, I worked for Linde, I wasn't fired I left on my own accord when they closed the plant in Fostoria. Haven't regretted a single day.

Joe, I ran for a sub running for Praxair, and with the exception of the cameras, it was the same as what you had. We did, however, run farther away overnights at times to get product from Utah, Texas and Canada. There were discussions about cameras when I left, so I am sure they are going to have them, if not already. I do understand why you left - I would do it in a heartbeat myself. The job is tough enough without adding more layers of redundant safety regs that do nothing but add stress to an already stressful job.

Here's an update for linde terminals in Bethlehem PA and Claymont De. Bethlehem has been operated by ruan transportation for sometime now. Back in dec 2013 ruan took over Claymont De terminal. The trucking and shop. It went from a linde pension, paid hub miles, minimum loading pay, unlimited unloading pay, traffic delay pay, 24 dollars hourly to ruan pay. No pension, book miles, 180 minutes pay for pre trip, post trip, loading and unloading. It's been bundled. Any delay must be documented or no pay. If you miss work for four weeks your fired. Say due to injury outside work (traffic accident etc.) Shop has stopped stocking many parts so they'll get ruan bonus money. It's an all around cheery situation!! Drivers are leaving for better jobs and the ones that are staying feel very sold out by linde.

That dosent surprise me at all about this very unforgiving company. When I was there they had a company called CTI carrying lots of their product. I think they were out of PA. Some operations were completely brokered out to this cut rate outfit. Linde is a company that appears good to work for until you actually work for them. They put on a good show. I have never seen such poor leadership, they consider micromanagement as good leadership. You WILL assimilate or they WILL get rid of you. They always have jobs posted so no need to rush to apply. If you like short runs, changing trucks multiple times each night, some of the worst delivery locations you can think of then apply, they will probably hire you. I dont think anyone is beating down the door to get on there.

Also AVOID the DELTA, Ohio location at all cost. TA is the terminal manager and he will have you goose stepping in no time at all!

I would feel like an ABSOLUTE loser having a camera pointing at me...I wouldn't work for a company that wants ABSOLUTE losers working for it. Only a loser needs to be babysat. Leaving that Linde job was a good call.
