115 might be too far away. They dispatch a lot of freight out of there. They also handle Markham. I have gotten a few loads out of there before. They were always waiting on the yard for me. I much prefer going to Kankakee.

I just met a driver at the charleston, sc terminal who lives in atlanta, which is well over 115 miles away. He stays out for several weeks at a time though. He started his career at a terminal near atlanta, then transfered to charleston later on. All you can do is ask.

Any of you gentlemen familiar with the Karns City terminal in PA? I live about 15-20 miles from it and I graduate in 2-3 weeks from driving school. I will have all my endorsements along with a passport. Is it a busy terminal and what are the runs out of there like? Nice people, but they dont really want to talk to me yet until I have my actual license.

There is a guy posting as geargrinder on TTR who worked out of that terminal. I have only been there a few times. Its a pain to get to especially in the winter but you know that living close. It is not a terminal that I would recommend a rookie start out of. I say that due to the unforgiving nature of all the roads leading in there. They have a good shop and do a better job than most maintaining the trailers. Outbound trailers go through a shop inspection before they are loaded.

Thanks wsyrob. Yes, western PA has lots of hills, valleys and winding roads. I grew up here so I'm not really intimidated by bad roads etc. I just want to find a reputable company to work for so I dont have to job hop. Thanks to all the drivers like you that are willing to share experiences and what they know has lead me to believe that I couldn't go wrong with Superior Carriers. No matter what you drive, taking your time and paying attention is key to diving the roads around here, especially in winter.

I wound up with Monday off after my beach trip but had a 6 AM appointment in N Chicago for Wednesday and had to leave at 0 dark 30 Tuesday. Got home around 3 PM Thursday. Heading back out early Sunday for another 6 AM appointment Monday morning in N Chicago. I was hoping to go to the Panther Atlanta game Sunday but 3 guys who run this dedicated had asked for Monday off for Dr appointments. No problem. Those are pretty popular tickets and I had no problem selling them at the last minute. The additional 600 miles will help next weeks check a good bit.

Uneventful trip up to N Chicago and back. I left around 4AM Sunday and got home around 3PM Tuesday. Heading out Wed afternoon with a preloaded trailer going to Holland Michigan and coming back empty. Should be home Sat morning at the latest depending on how long it takes to unload. Good week.
